“No, I don’t suffer from freckles!”
Pippi Longstocking, by Astrid Lindgren
Reflection
I love Pippi Långstrump (Longstocking)! The strongest girl in the world challenges prevailing norms and questions authorities in a liberating way. It's like she takes every single child's question "Why?" and push it to the limit, which drives the adult world insane. Reading about her or seeing her in the movies (not the cartoons!) is hilarious and wonderful. However, it would probably be a pain in the ass to have Pippi in one's own life. And that notion actually gives me some belated empathy for the adults in the stories about Pippi.
Today's exercise
Do you have any part of your body that you are not completely satisfied with? Talk to this part as if it was a friend: “X, you are a part of me. Without you, I would not be the same. Thank you for being here.” Notice what emotions appear. Whether it is emotions linked to met or unmet needs, sit with them for a while without trying to change them.
Tip of the day
Read Pippi Longstocking! To your children. To other children. Or to yourself.
Here you can see a clip about Pippi’s freckles:
