WAY 2 PRAY

October 2020

As for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the LORD by failing to pray for you. And I will teach you the way that is good and right. I Samuel 12:23

Praise God for providing a vehicle and for finally having working laundry and beds and furniture! We were living out of suitcases for the first month here and are so thankful now for some of these things! Pray for our health in the midst of rainy season, for the kids as they adjust to school schedules, for the ability to settle in, and for rest. It’s been a challenging transition, but things are starting to fall in place.

Don and Rachel Schaeffer
Language Study in Japan

Pray for our continued language learning. Our desire is to retain and understand Japanese so we can communicate well.
Pray for the boys who are both in school. Pray that they would make a friend and be light to those around them.
Pray for Rachel who will be giving birth in Japan at the end of November.

Pray for leadership at Trinity Paris as we navigate pastoral changes. Pray for those who attended the Alpha program to continue to seek answers. Mally and Valary McLoughlin
Serving in Paris, France
  1. The retreat that Mally was supposed to lead in September and that I was going to help out at was cancelled and rescheduled for just a day seminar in November. You can continue to pray for that as it will be the first time that Mally leads a retreat in French with the materials he has in English.
  2. Pray for Corinne, my tutor, that she will come to know the Lord. There are so many “coincidences” in her life that she thinks it’s supernatural. I’ve told her it’s God, but she isn’t able to receive that information just yet. Keep praying for opportunities to share Christ with her.
  3. Next year, we will be changing accounting software which means a steep learning curve. Pray that we prepare well for that change and have enough time to learn what we need to in order to implement it in the new fiscal year next year.
  4. Rejoice with us as Mally has his ordination service at the beginning of October. It’s been a long time in coming and he has worked hard to get here. Praise the Lord that Mally continues to follow the path that God has for him and is growing more like Christ each day.

Sam & Jennifer Stemple
Black Forest Academy-Germany

Please pray for our school, Black Forest Academy, as we continue to adjust to regulations and guidelines we must adhere to in Germany to be able to remain open and functioning.

Pray that we would have no cases of Covid in our school this year, which would cause a 14 day shut down.

Pray for our students as they adjust to a new "normal" this school year.

Pray specifically in early October for our Spiritual Emphasis Week as we challenge our students towards a deeper walk with Christ.

Please pray for the families of our dorm students who are living and serving in many places that are closed to travel or struggling with this world pandemic. Some of those families left those countries when the pandemic started and have not been able to get back into their countries. Some have not been able to get out of their countries or don't have the freedom of travel to see their children or other ministry options.

Please pray for our family. Matthew is in his Senior year and needing to make decisions about what he will do next year. Our kids are involved in sports (which are able to run) and both Jen and Sam are leading a small group of Juniors so as we kick off the school year we enter a very busy season both personally and ministry wise.

Pray for our adult children (Jordan and Larisa, and Ellie). It has been a long time since we have seen them and, due to Covid, we are unsure when we will be able to connect personally. This separation is one of the difficult things about living cross culturally.

Pray for wisdom and perseverance for our kids as they walk through life.
Thanks for Praying ... Continue to Pray!!

S & W
  • We are so thankful for how our sons have done in transitioning to college in late August and early September.
  • P-y that the borders with our country of service would open. Our return flight was canceled shortly after getting to the states to help our sons with settling into their apartment and college. There is no indication that the border is going to open soon, but G can do it.
  • P-y for us as we travel and visit friends and supporters in multiple states through the month of October.
T & H
  • Praise for a safe reentry into their country.
  • For their daughter, “O” to enjoy her senior year and for wisdom and direction as she plans for college.
  • For two miracles: for the renewal of their visas and for their new ministry to be approved by the government.
J & J

Praise: -We met with the Pastor of the church in the capital city. He shared with us that 3 new Alliance churches have been planted in the southern part of our country.

-We were able to supply 200 orphan children with their needed school supplies thanks to gifts to our Works Special account.

-We are half way through our first post-covid term of English classes at the Center, and things are going great! Many new friendships have been formed already.

Pray: -Pray for the 8 Alliance churches in our country, including the daughter church with which our team works very directly. Pray that these churches grow in strength, in the Word, and in boldness, and that the gates of hell would not prevail against them.-

-Pray for N, one of Mrs. J’s female students, who has shown a great interest in visiting church

-Pray for M, one of our Center’s male students, who has been asking many questions about the Book.

    M & L-Home Assignment, Crown College, MN
    • That God would use them to impact students’ lives for His kingdom.
    • For connections with people in MN specifically families with children and to develop deeper relationships.
    • For M & L as they prepare to speak at the Appleton Alliance Global Connections Conference in October, the same week L has clinical intensives.
    • For A (11) and S (8) that they will be willing to make friends in a place they will only live for one year.
    • For L to find a healthy balance between ministry, family and her midwife studies.
    • For a Christian family living north of Senegal: the husband was arrested and imprisoned for meeting with International Workers and the wife just had a miscarriage. Their colleague in Senegal will be walking with this family.
    • For a new church in Dakar that was recently flooded.
    B & M- Extended Home Assignment
    • Continued prayers for encouragement as they look to the future.
    • For a smooth transition to school and friends for their kids.
    • For protection for their kids from things they don’t need to be exposed to at a young age.
    • Praise that they could return to the mission house they had previously lived in as it provides a sense of stability for their children.

    S & K-Europe

Please pray for D. to submit to Christ and find hope, for the classmate to take deeper steps of faith, for D’s mother and son (for whom he asked for prayer).

As we seek God’s direction to bring His Hope, would you please join us in bold prayer for His ideas.

Please pray that the non-believers attending and those who’ve been invited would really pursue their deep life questions, and that God brings still more hungry people.

Please pray for diligence and for joy in the mini-breakthroughs of language learning when they come!

Praise: The kids are doing so much better in school this year than last—friends, ability to keep up with the teacher, homework, etc.

Please pray for our son, Z, to deepen friendships and language ability.
