Greetings!
I hope you enjoyed the June newsletter.
This month, I wanted to focus on self-promotion and visibility. The world we live in gets busier all the time, and it's easy to get lost in the crowd.
Whether you want to grow your visibility for career advancement, a pay rise, to establish yourself as a thought leader, or all of the above, self-promotion plays a central role in how successful you are.
For many people, self-promotion is a struggle. It can feel uncomfortable for you and if not done well come across as one of those pompous braggarts.
To help you build your visibility in a way that aligns with your personality, goals and values, here are some tips:
- Think about visibility as a way of sharing information about yourself and your accomplishments that will add value to another.
- Identify your accomplishments. Practice talking about them by yourself or with someone close to you. Think about how these accomplishments might be beneficial in your professional life.
- Share your accomplishments as they fit naturally in situations. For example, if you have an area of expertise that would benefit a current project at work, share it with the decision makers.
- If applicable, highlight other individuals who share the accomplishment. If a project you worked on with a team goes well, sharing the credit with the team builds good will between you and your coworkers.
As you confidently share who you are and what you've accomplished, you will grow your visibility in your organization and actively manage your career and success.
What visibility intention would you like to set for yourself moving forward?
