Hey ,

I'd had such big plans for this month’s newsletter. Then life came along and threw me a curveball, and poof, my mojo was gone.

In a nutshell, my dog died.

As a result, juggling the demands of being an independent author has been difficult lately. I've scaled back my online presence, even though I had finally started to build some momentum there. I've lost touch with other writer connections that could help promote my work. My usual focus and drive have felt fuzzy at the edges. The to-do lists continue to grow.

However, I did manage to write a blog post about losing Tetley, an endeavor that helped ease my grief. It was cathartic sorting through all the old photos and putting my feelings into words.

Anyway, I promise to be back with more uplifting content in the next newsletter, including a survey asking you to pick the TimeBlink cast should it ever be made into a movie. Until then, I’d sure love it if you gave your furry little companions an extra-long snuggle in Tetley’s memory. 🐾

Serendipitously, my friend Ginny is part of the family that owns Hartsdale Pet Cemetery, the oldest pet burial ground in the United States.

Recently, Ginny sent me a link to a podcast called “This is Love.” In this episode, host Phoebe Judge delves into the cemetery's history through touching interviews with various pet owners who have found solace there.

The podcast is just over 30 minutes long with a transcript available through the same link if you’d rather read the story than listen. Either way, be sure to keep the Kleenex handy. 🐾

Despite not having the pluck to write much this month, I was able to harness some of my sadness to craft an emotional scene involving Syd and her potential new love interest (!).

In the scene, Syd insists that her heart still belongs to Morley. Well, this fella is smitten. And he won’t stop trying to convince Syd that she's clinging to the memory of a ghost at the expense of building a fulfilling life in her present.

To say anything more would be risking a spoiler, so I'll have to leave it at that.
