A vessel underway approximately 204NM northeast of Socotra, Yemen, was approached by a dhow.

The dhow reportedly closed to within 0.5NM at a speed of 6 knots and did not respond to VHF communications. The onboard armed security team (AST) fired two bursts of two signal flares, prompting the dhow to alter its course and pass within 1NM of the vessel's stern. The vessel and crew remained safe throughout the incident.

All vessels in the area are advised to proceed with caution and to report any suspicious activities to the UKMTO.
