Behind the Scenes: I am once more relegated to the confines of 'wide-eyed stare' when I try to summarize the Behind The Scenes stuff lately.

I spent the entire month of July revising a SF novel for my agent. It took FOREVER. (If you want to read the saga of it all, I invite you to join my Patreon, where I wrote about it extensively. Also, there's so much other stuff there. I blog there pretty regularly, I drop various books there for early reading, I...lots of stuff there, guys. Lots of stuff. :))

Anyway, so then my agent met one of my friends and apparently told her that I had turned the revisions around SO FAST and had been SO COMPREHENSIVE with them and now I'm both delighted and laughing hollowly. So fast? My God. It did not feel fast to me at aaaaaalllllllllll!

Having finished the revisions, I've been doing my very best to take time off, which is not my strong point. I've mostly succeeded, though, and I've been sleeping A LOT. Like a LOT A LOT. One might think I've worn myself out the past several months...

Part of my time off (for some value of 'time off') was that I went to Worldcon in Glasgow last week! I'd never been to Scotland before! I still haven't effectively been to Scotland, because all I saw was the convention centre. :) I'm working on writing up blog posts about that (posted first on the aforementioned Patreon!), but in short, it was pretty great and I had a wonderful time and met a lot of splendid people, including the also aforementioned agent! She's terrific and I'm already happy I'm working with her, so that's...well. Pretty wonderful. :)

I also had an AMAZING meetup with Patreon supporters at Worldcon, and next one I'm at (I'm guessing LA in 2027 unless the Money Frog comes to visit with a great deal of extra cash, in which case maybe also Seattle next year), I want to organize a more, er, organized, newsletter/fb-readers/Patreon THING. A THING, guys! A THING! Okay? Okay. Good. Got that sorted. :)

What else, what else. I have to start writing proposals when I get back to work next week. I have like...five of them to write, mostly for all-new projects that we're gonna try to get out there into the world, while in the meantime I've also got more paranormal romances to write and a DESPERATE HOPE to get to a book in a malingering trilogy. Does anybody have a Tardis handy? I think that would help, although as people keep point out, would I really write if having adventures with the Doctor? I MIGHT. I'M VERY DEDICATED TO WRITING!

Um. Um, yes. I. Um. Yeah, okay, I'm doing my best here, but I'm having a hard time scraping up more stuff that can be summarized instead of needing entire blog posts of their own :D

A Bit Of Chat: First: A shout-out to my con-friend Margaret who is responsible for me getting this newsletter out regularly (she scolded me firmly once and I took it to heart): THE CHOCOLATES WERE DELICIOUS, THANK YOU!!!!

I've, oh, well, I've gone to see Deadpool & Wolverine twice and will probably go again at least one more time because it was so. much. Fun. I had at least three people text me with "******!!!!!!!!!" when they left the theatre because "******!!!!!!!!!", and also had one like-minded friend on FB who was like "OH MY GOD THAT ONE PART OH MY GOD" and I was like RIGHT?!??!? RIGHT?!?!?!?!?!?! while other less like-minded people were just like ?????? :D

Um, hm, I'm slowly working my way through Leverage: Redemption, the first half of the first season of which was not great, but they seem to have gotten their feet under themselves at about the halfway point and I'm enjoying it considerably more now. Thank goodness, because I really WANT to like it.

I also watched The Decameron on Netflix this week, and...I'm not exactly sure I liked it, but I did keep watching it all the way through. It was extremely well cast; its problem is that there are almost no likable characters, but there aren't supposed to be, so they hit the auld nail on the head there, so they did. It is extremely well-cast, and written in a sort of similar-to-My Lady Jane modernistic style with 14th century plague-ridden Italy trappings, and that worked for me pretty well. Also did I mention how well-cast it was? Everybody was really very, very good in their roles. Which was why I kept watching. :)

Um, boy, you know, I feel like I've been reading a lot but maybe it's just that I'm re-reading a lot and I feel kind of bad going "well I've probably talked about everything I've read recently, before!" But I did just re-read Kim Stanley Robinson's Science in the Capital trilogy, and Daniel Keys Moran's entire Continuing Time saga (I'll be blog posting about those soon), and the two Dog Sitter Detective novels by Antony Johnson (who also wrote the comic Atomic Blonde was based on, so, like: dude's got range!).

Oh, Stephanie Burgis's A MARRIAGE OF UNDEAD INCONVENIENCE just came out, and it was very cute, and my friend Elva Birch's next paranormal romance, STALLION'S INSTINCT, is also out recently. I actually forgot to put that one on my recent reads list because I often forget to do that with the books I edit, but I've read it twice and I think it's a good intriguey PNR. :)

I'm actually going to read MAGIC & MANNERS by some CE Murphy person next, so if anybody wants to, IDK, read along with me or something, I might do something read-alongy on the Patreon, or eventually on the blog :D

Now, however, I'm off to eat dinner and watch more tv, because those are best in life, Conan!
