National President's Welcome |

|
|
Dearest Brothers and Sisters, Jai Sai Ram!
I pray that you are all keeping well with Bhagawan’s Grace.
November is the most eventful month of the year. The month started with the National Birthday Celebrations for our Beloved Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba on his 99th year. We were privileged and honoured to have Brother Sai Surendranath from the Prasanthi Bhajan Mandir group present, as well as the renowned and devoted Sister Renu Gidoomal.
The month continued with Akhand bhajans, Ladies' Day and Birthday celebrations across the nation. This edition of Love and Light contains details of several spiritual and service activities that were undertaken during November as part of these events.
December is always a vibrant month, too, marked by a diverse array of festivals celebrated by many across the country, reflecting cultural, religious, and seasonal traditions. Events such as Christmas, Hanukkah and Bodhi day are some of the key events. This Saturday, 14th December, I look forward to seeing you all at the National Christmas Celebrations at Samuel Cody Sports College, Farnborough from 11am to 4pm.
As you all are aware, the coming year is our Beloved Bhagawan’s Centenary year, and it will be a year full of many events and celebrations. Some of these you will find listed below, but please ensure that you are receiving regular updates from your Centres. The year will start with the National Office Bearers and Active Workers Conference; a medical camp to Nepal and a UK and Europe Zonal pilgrimage to Prasanthi Nilayam in July are some of the events already planned.
As this year is coming to a close, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support to the Organisation as it transitioned to its new structure as a CIO. On behalf of the entire Council, I wish you and your families season’s greetings and may Swami’s Grace be upon you all for a very blissful, peaceful and joyful New Year.
Lovingly, in Sai service
Pratap Thakkar

Centenary activities update |
|
|
|
The students, parents and gurus of the United Kingdom Bal Vikas (SSE) Wing are currently offering three activities to Bhagawan, as part of the lead-up to next year's Centenary:
- Gayatri Mantra chanting
- Daily outdoor activity
- Ceiling on Desires savings
Gayatri Mantra chanting
Over 120,000 Gayatri Mantras have been chanted by children, gurus and parents around the country. Several centres have made it a part of their regular routine, and the children all join in enthusiastically.
Daily outdoor activity
Children have been taking to this activity with relish: whether it be playing outside in the school playground or in the park, or taking up sports like cricket, football and swimming.
Ceiling on Desires savings
The initial activity was to save money for those in need, for which around £50 has been saved nationwide. However, the activity has extended to the other aspects of this important programme, chiefly time management: the time thereby saved has been used for service activities, e.g. packing gift bags for needy children in Moldova, and making winter hats for babies. Children have also been remembering to turn off lights when not in use and also not to waste food, by putting only the amounts they will eat on their plates.
It has been heartwarming to learn of all the different efforts and activities being offered to Him around the country. We cannot wait to learn more about these next year!

This year, ladies from Region 4 celebrated a delightful Ladies' Day in Coventry on Saturday 16th November, embracing the theme “Be Happy.” Many attended for the first time.
The event began with Omkar, prayers, and bhajans and a video featuring Swami, titled “How Are Women Superior to Men?”, highlighting Swami’s words on women’s mental strength and their embodiment of sweetness, sacrifice, wisdom, and devotion. He encouraged mothers to instil human values in their children.
Several activities then followed, e.g. a paper flower-making workshop, which were offered at the lotus feet of our beloved Swami; charades based on Swami’s quotations; and other fun games. Four speakers shared heartfelt stories of their faith and trust in Swami, followed by a discussion on mental well-being and the importance of supporting one another. We discussed scenarios such as feeling overwhelmed by family responsibilities and coping with social pressure and expectations. This led to many ladies sharing their thoughts on how we can support one another, especially when many Sai families are facing difficult times. It was a meaningful conversation about the importance of community and mutual assistance.
Ladies' events serve to remind us of Bhagawan Baba’s messages, encouraging us to value ourselves, feel special, and take pride in who we are. Through our duties and sacrifices, we bring stability, love, peace, and harmony to those around us. We concluded our day with beautiful bhajans and aarti, filling the day with a sense of devotion and love. The joy among the ladies was palpable, and everyone left feeling truly happy. We are grateful to Baba for giving us the opportunity to celebrate this special day and for making this event a resounding success.

On 23rd November, Rochester Sai Centre hosted Region 6's celebrations of Swami’s 99th birthday. With around 200 attendees registered, the energy was palpable. The programme commenced with our Bal Vikas children leading a beautiful procession, presenting heartfelt, handmade birthday cards adorned with their personalised messages at the Lotus feet of Swami. They then chanted Vedam, sang bhajans, and performed enchanting dances and dramatic pieces. Sister Anushkaa’s rendition of “O Palan Hare” had the whole audience joining in, creating a moment of unity. Aunty Sree Ranjini Radhakrishnan and Sister Parvathy Panicker mesmerised us with their carnatic kirtans, and Brother Aanand Venkat took us on a nostalgic journey, sharing his inspiring experiences with Bhagawan as His student in Puttaparthi. The warm melodies of bhajans by the sisters blended beautifully with the powerful medley from the brothers. Following a delightful cake-cutting ceremony and the jhoola song, the programme concluded with the sacred mangala aarti. We then shared in the joy of blessed maha prashadam, a fitting end to a truly uplifting celebration.

Region 8 celebrated Baba’s 99th birthday in the Radisson Blu hotel in Perth on 23rd November. Devotees from Edinburgh and Glasgow had hired a bus to travel to the venue, while others had travelled by car and other means of transport to Perth. The morning's snowy and stormy weather unfortunately forced some devotees to stay at home.
The programme started at 12pm with Vedic chanting, followed by offerings from different centres. It ended with bhajans, cake cutting, and delicious prashadam at around 5.30 pm. By Swami's grace, the weather had mellowed in the evening and the devotees reached home safely.
