Open Call for Proposals!
Since 2017 when PPEH hosted the inaugural design competition, the Ecotopian Toolkit has asked collaborators to consider what tools we might require and what tools we can create for a better future. This year, in partnership with the Morris Arboretum & Gardens, the project is turning its focus to creating "Ecotopian Tools for Multispecies Flourishing.” Students in Bethany Wiggin's "Environmental Humanities: Theory, Method, Practice" course worked extensively to co-author this call for proposals. (Another project in their class was to propose an Ecotopian Tool for the Academy. Stay tuned for samples of these projects— coming soon!)
Successful proposals for Ecotopian Tools will dig deep–not just into the sciences of the soils, plants, and animals at Morris, but also into the histories and stories that shape this place today. We aim to curate a collection of tools that together engage diverse audiences of all ages, from third-graders to college students to multigenerational families to gardeners and bird lovers of all ages!
Proposals are due by March 1, 2024 and must be submitted using this form. Please any address questions about this project including the application process to ppehlab-director@sas.upenn.edu — we can't wait to see how this project continues to grow!
