Schools out for Summer

All set for a smashing summer at Hardie Park. The gardeners have been busy bees! A view of the sunflowers whilst sipping a cappucino on the decking definitely sounds like a plan. If you are looking for a break from the house whether that be with grand children or parents with babies we would love to see you. Play area, cafe, petanque, skate park, zip wire, bmx track, picnic area - we've got it all! Please don't let the recent permit parking situation keep you away. There's a map further down the newsletter highlighting some possible parking spots Monday to Friday. We do have a few parking bays outside the park gates and disabled spots too.

Under construction...

Mud, mud, glorious mud! The foundations shaped up and we are so looking forward to the opening of our new super slide. Fundraising by the Hardie Team, local clubs, visitors and businesses over the last year has been aided by a £14,000 chunk of Community Environmental Development Fund from Thurrock Council helping us achieve the target needed to complete installation of the play equipment.

If you visit the park you will see the fenced construction area for the slide. In the interest of safety please note the signage, UNDER CONSTRUCTION - SLIDE INCOMPLETE - NO ACCESS PERMITTED

One of our customers Adam Kortlandt is doing the final push on a bike to make the bullseye. What a star! He's cycling in the London Prudential 100 ride on the 4th August. His fundraising link is >HERE<  if you would like to donate.

A snapshot of Hardie

Coming soon.... Blatella Films will be working with us to create a tool to spread the word about what it is we do. It's this kind of thing that allows us to apply for various funding opportunities which in turn keep Hardie Park manned and providing an amazing community hub. There's lots of opportunities to tap into pockets of cash to deliver the great service Hardie provides. Examples being the shed project and the new bike project which is just getting started. Bus and Bounce

Get ready for some boing boing bouncy fun over the holidays. Little Legs will be on site with bouncy castles. Local stallholders will be supporting the event. We've got cafe, ice-cream, play area and decking for mums to sit and relax. Really hope to see some of you on one or all of the three scheduled events.

Community Corner

We've used the ugly side of a fridge to display local clubs and groups in the area. Some of the clubs and sports providers who supported our Community Sports Day appear on there! I'm an Insaniac, Stanford Rugby Club, The Rocks, Stanford Cricket Club. We're not able to display batches of flyers but we can display a poster for local groups in our Community Corner.

We're on the list...no.28

We popped up on-line this week. Essex Live have listed 101 things to do in Essex over the summer. We're were number 28!  We think that's quite an achievement for a little local community park. Your recommendation is also a great for us to encourage new visitors. Thanks to any of you who share our news and talk about the park to your friends, neighbours and family. It all helps!

Men's Shed windfall

We’re excited to announce that we have received a grant from the Hew Watt Family Charitable Trust to help us complete the shed development and begin opening for regular sessions in a few short months!

The shedders meet weekly on a Friday morning and hope to be ready to welcome new members soon!

Re-cycle home on the way

If you visit the park in a couple of weeks, you will probably notice three new container buildings that will become the home of our Bike Recycling Project. We've had a few ideas on an apt name for the project but if you have a witty or even, dare we say, sensible idea, then why not email us on communications@friendsofhardiepark.co.uk

Is it a cone or a tub?

Kids (and adults) just love an ice-cream at Hardie Park. The counter now stocks Gluten free and Vegan in two flavours, Strawberry and Chocolate ice cream. The sorbets are also gluten free. We hope this allows the majority of our visitors to enjoy a cone or a tub when they next visit!

Events in the pipeline...

How exciting, we've pencilled in the date for our Christmas weekend already.

If you would like to help get our events up and running we would really appreciate your input. Get in contact via events@friendsofhardiepark.co.uk - Our event team always needs more hands on deck.

If you like planning, sorting on the day, maybe run a stall at an event to fundraise, shake a bucket on the gate, marshall the car park maybe - we would love to have you on board! We have a variety of events over the course of the year and new ideas and talents are always welcome!

Performing Parks, Project update...

Our partner projects in Grays, South Ockendon, East Tilbury, Tilbury and Aveley are all moving forward apace with their ideas and plans to transform a park or parks in their own areas. There are summer events planned, keep an eye on our Facebook page where we will be sharing details! - See Bonnygate's event info above for this Saturday 3rd August.
