FSU awards two rare Westcott Medals

This month, President John Thrasher is honoring two new recipients of the James D. Westcott Distinguished Service MedalProfessor Emerita Myra Hurt, who retired earlier this year after more than 33 years of service to Florida State, and President Emeritus Talbot “Sandy” D’Alemberte, who died in May 2019, are receiving the medals for their extraordinary contributions to the university. Read more ...

Homecoming rescheduled for Spring 2021

Since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, the top priority of the Florida State University Alumni Association has been, and continues to be, the health of its alumni, students, staff and faculty. In order to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, Homecoming — originally scheduled for the week of Nov. 9-14, 2020 — will be postponed. FSU chemistry professor wins prestigious American Chemical Society award

Florida State University faculty member Igor Alabugin, a professor at FSU’s Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry in the College of Arts and Sciences, has become the first in the university’s history to receive the American Chemical Society’s Arthur C. FSU researchers develop new X-ray detection technology

Florida State University researchers have developed a new material that could be used to make flexible X-ray detectors that are less harmful to the environment and cost less than existing technologies. The team led by Biwu Ma, a professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, published their research in the journal Nature Communications.Read more ...
