TODAY – Pre-Application Period Closes for BIA Tribal Electrification Program |

Dear USET/USET SPF Family, Organizational Partners, and Relatives Across Indian Country,
As a reminder, the pre-application period for the Department of the Interior, Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) Electrification Program closes today, September 18, 2023. Beginning September 19, 2023 through October 27, 2023, BIA will be conducting reviews of applications received. Between October 28, 2023 and November 3, 2023, invited applicants will receive a notification from BIA to submit a full application for the program, which will begin November 6, 2023 and close December 22, 2023.
The complete timeline for the review, full application deadline, and award date for the Tribal Electrification Program is as follows—
- September 18, 2023: Pre-Application DEADLINE
- September 19, 2023: October 27, 2023 - Pre-Application Review
- October 28, 2023: November 03, 2023 - Invites and Declines
- November 06, 2023: Full Application Period Begins
- December 22, 2023: Full Application DEADLINE
- January 02, 2024: February 15, 2024 - Full Application Review
- March 01, 2024: Award Announcements

Pre-Application Period Open for BIA Tribal Electrification Program |

Dear USET/USET SPF Family, Organizational Partners, and Relatives Across Indian Country,
The Department of the Interior has issued a Press Release announcing the launch of the BIA Electrification Program. The $150 million BIA Tribal Electrification Program provides financial and technical assistance to Tribal Nations to increase the number of Tribal homes with zero-emission electricity, with eligible uses for (1) the provision of electricity to unelectrified Tribal homes through zero-emissions energy systems; (2) transitioning electrified Tribal homes to zero-emissions energy systems; and (3) associated home repairs and retrofitting necessary to install the zero-emissions energy systems.
The dates for the application and awards timeline are as follows—
- August 15, 2023: Pre-Application Period Begins
- September 18, 2023: Pre-Application DEADLINE
