"Actually, I can".
We love seeing our students achieving their goals on their own with the guidance of our teachers.
The way we approach empowerment at the studio is by creating a space where they can develop or increase the confidence they need to love the way they move.
We are inspired every week by our students, showing us the multiple faces of empowerment in ways such as:
- Doing freestyle in the middle of the circle for the first time.
- Adult students taking multiple levels of the same style to challenge themselves and polish skills.
- Senior ballet students doing their own bun, no longer needing a parent to get ready. They glow with pride!
- Students asking for help when they need it.
- Encouraging a fellow classmate to try that move again, helping others develop confidence.
In our team, we have been experiencing an ongoing need to cover each other's classes, due to sickness, annual leave, maternity leave, significant life events or unforeseen circumstances. We are all human, after all! Also, as a people-first business model, we work really hard to try to achieve balance for all our team members (depending on the time of the year, sometimes with more success than others).
This is a shoutout of appreciation for the team. Our membership system means that students enrolled in a class always have the same teacher and share the room with the same classmates, so there is a relationship that develops. For this reason, it takes a certain level of confidence to step into someone else's class and deliver it with (usually) short notice. And this type of confidence is only the fruit of constant EMPOWERMENT within the team.
