Tell us something fun about yourself. Me and my two siblings are all adopted from Bogota, Colombia. No blood relation. Not fluent in Spanish. Grateful to be here with them and the rest of our family. Hope to one day make it back to Colombia!
If you could go back in time, what would you tell yourself as a new CSM?
Don't be afraid to ask for help! Find a mentor. Be curious, and ask all the questions, it's a journey, so why not make it fun?
What book, podcast, or influencer do you recommend checking out?
Book - The Customer Success Professional Handbook. The title says it all! Provides the fundamentals for CS Pros and a good refresher.
Podcast - Gain Grow Retain. Great topics, guests, strategies, and best practices for all things CS. Plus they have a great Office Hours series!
Influencer - that's tough! Personally, Brendon Burchard. He's a huge influencer in the personal development world and he's a role model I look up to. I'm a huge personal development nerd and he is too! He's known for being a High Performer and sharing his practices. He has a great book called High-Performance Habits. CS-related, there are so many! I would just say the entire CS Community! Where ever you go or look there's great content to follow and engage with!
What is the one tech tool you can't live without?
Slack! Such a great communications platform. I enjoy and love the different features and ways to communicate internally with my company and other workspaces!
How can those looking to break into CS get started?
WOW! There are so many ways to get started though you have to start somewhere. I would say first figure out your why for wanting to break into CS. Asking questions like, What do you bring to the table? What's important to you? What makes you most fulfilled? (not in any order). Mainly be curious, ask questions, network, network, network, build those relationships, and pay it forward!
What’s something you recently learned the hard way?
Obtaining feedback. It can be hard, especially constructive feedback. It's understanding, responding, and acting on what was shared that will help move the needle forward. Progression equals happiness. It's a great learning experience and growth opportunity to reflect and strive to get 1% better!
