Doing this diligently over the past year has filled my LinkedIn network with valuable connections I can tap for resources, opportunities and insights for myself or others.
Being more resourceful makes me an increasingly more valuable connection to my network.
This sets off a growth loop via word-of-mouth (the best kind of growth for a personal brand): people refer me to others as a valuable connection.
I could’ve easily told you this method has gotten me 3,087 connections and 3,527 followers so far, but those are vanity metrics.
I prefer to measure the success of my personal brand by the number of opportunities I generate for myself and others, and word-of-mouth referrals.
You might be thinking: “I don’t want to add my co-workers on LinkedIn.”
That’s a real pity.
Because those are the people who can best vouch for your skills and help elevate your personal brand on LinkedIn.
Like this really nice comment my VP of Communications left on my LinkedIn post the other day:
