BTIB organized a Business Tauturu workshop on “skills development for small businesses” in Mangaia from 19th to 23 July 2021.
Workshop sessions was organized covering 3 main topics as discussed and requested by the participants along with one-on-one individual sessions with 13 business owners. These one-on-one sessions helps the participants to be comfortable in discussing their business ideas.
Four main topics covered:
- Stocktake and Inventory – How to keep records of your stock
- Understanding the importance of costings and correct pricing
- Reviewing of your costings
- How to price correctly using the pricing calculator
- Understand a sales forecast and how to use one
- Record Keeping using a receipt book and tax / invoice provided by BTIB
Types of Businesses
The business sectors represented by the attendees were farming, retail, crafts, accommodation, transport hire based businesses. 60% were interested in costing and pricing their products/services properly, 20% in stocktake and inventory and the remaining 20% were startup businesses.
BTIB also attended Mangaia School to help students with Costing & Pricing their products. The school was preparing for a School Fair and this was an opportunity to sell their products and learn more about starting up your own little business. BTIB was able to assist the students to understand the importance of costing their products correctly. Mangaia School was able to raise approximately $10,000 with the efforts of all the students from Primary to Year 13. |
