HIZ
Harding in Zambia
After an unforgettable trip to Cape Town, HIZ wrapped up its semester with students shadowing healthcare providers in clinical settings, serving at the Havens’ reunification home, and forming cross-cultural relationships with aunties, hospital staff, and Basic Choir students. Each Sunday they drove out to different villages and helped lead worship. They also spent a weekend in a nearby village, building relationships and learning more about Zambians' daily lives and culture.
During their last four weeks, some pre-medical students were given a unique experience as they observed general surgeon Dr. Robert Walker perform many procedures. Dr. Walker, a member of the Board of Trustees, completed his second trip to Zambia and hopes to return next summer during the HIZ semester. To cap off the semester, HIZ drove all throughout the famous Chobe National Park in Botswana, taking a multi-day safari and seeing an incredible number of animals, including the elusive lion and more giraffes than they could count!
