WorkSafeNB is inviting stakeholders to provide feedback on proposed revisions to two important policies:

Traumatic Mental Stress
Accident Reporting and Application for Benefits

The proposed changes are intended to improve clarity and consistency, and ensure the policies reflect current practices.

Deadline is Oct. 9, 2025.

Stay healthy this season: Stop the spread of communicable diseases

With colder months ahead, the chances of catching and spreading illnesses increase. Communicable diseases affect not just individuals, but entire workplaces and communities.

We all play a role in keeping ourselves and each other healthy. Simple steps like staying home when sick, washing hands often, covering coughs and sneezes and keeping shared spaces clean can make a big difference in reducing the spread of illness at work.

Updated interpretation: Firefighting: When is a bunker suit required

Question:
Do firefighters always need to wear their bunker suit when responding to a call?

Answer:

The requirement for bunker suits relates only to structural firefighting; some activities conducted by firefighters are not related to structural firefighting.

Protect your team: Employers with three or more workers must register

With three or more workers, full or part-time, you must register for workers' compensation coverage. Workers may be full-time, part-time, casual workers or non-registered contractors, subcontractors or brokers.

Start with safety

In the courts

WorkSafeNB's health and safety officers and occupational hygienists are given legislative authority to write orders under the OHS Act, to improve safety and prevent workplace injuries in New Brunswick.

When these orders are not complied with, or when an incident has taken place as a result of a violation of the Act and/or its regulations, WorkSafeNB may recommend charges to the Department of Justice.
