The built environment reflects the rules. Minimum car parking requirements are the worst kind of urban planning rule.

Often introduced with good intentions, the end result is a city that is eaten alive by cars and parking. Thankfully minimum parking requirements are disappearing from New Zealand's cities by 2022. They should never have been introduced.
