I'm elated to announce that the good Lord provided us with an abundance of rain this week, dousing our parched land with lavish showers! The goats and sheep will be dancing a merry jig when their grass is greener from the downpour – the sun, taking a hiatus, has given the grass a reprieve from the daily singeing. Plus, we can now toss our paper and cardboard onto a cozy flame without the fear of reenacting a scene from an action movie.
The canine faction of our beloved farm harbors mixed emotions. Rain, to them, is like an uninvited guest overstaying its welcome. With soggy paws, our German Shepherds have resigned themselves to the confines of the house. Callie wears a pink thunder jacket to brace herself against the roaring thunder. We've instructed Maddison to be kind, but her penchant for teasing her sister seems too tempting to resist.
Farmer Joe, although recently embracing the bliss of retirement, couldn’t resist the call of carpentry. He ventured into the depths of his garage and after days of unearthing and organizing, the garage emerged as a castle of craftsmanship. And the dumpster, packed with the precision of a Tetris champion, was whisked away Monday evening leaving everything looking nice.
And let’s not forget our winged maestros of mischief, the chickens. We've outmaneuvered their escapades with some landscape edging. It also added a touch of chic to the garden's ensemble! Take that, plucky schemers!
