Dear Curlers,
The GEWC Board of Directors has voted to move forward with the second half of the season.
Driven by a favorable response from our membership we are excited to roll out new and engaging initiatives, which will be shared via email and displayed at the club.
For those new to GEWC, we will orientate you on our club protocols and procedures.
Your safety remains our utmost priority!
Bookings - As we navigate through the first few weeks, adjustments will be made to accommodate everyone. For those wishing to come down multiple times per week, keep in mind that you may need to be flexible with your time choices.
We encourage you to request bookings in the time slots you are accustomed to curling in.
Note, there are NO DROP-INS. You must pre-book a sheet of ice via email.
How will the bookings work?
Each Saturday a calendar for the upcoming week will be sent via email, listing available time slots.
Step 1 – Email shannon@gewc.ca indicating your primary/secondary timeslot preference and the name of the person sharing the sheet with you.
For those that wish to partake in 1v1 matchups, and would like assistance securing an opponent, please indicate that in your email.
Step 2 - You will receive an email from Shannon confirming your time slot or to suggest an alternative one.
Step 3 – IMPORTANT! Arrive at the club no sooner than the START time of your booking. This will allow for safe and proper flow of traffic in and out of the facility. Please depart the building after your time slot to allow for the next group of curlers to come in. We have a 15 minute buffer between each booking. If the lounge is open, you can make your way upstairs to enjoy a beverage in a safe and social distanced manner.
Note:
You still will be required to sign in each time you visit the club, and your sheet allocation will be posted on the draw board. After signing in, please go to your designated table, put your equipment on and make your way to your sheet.
You are required to sanitize your rock handles and shelving at the completion of your practice, along with your table and chair on the warm side of the glass.
Juniors
Watch for a separate email to come for those in the GEWC Junior Program. The Juniors have two dedicated time slots per week (Thursday and Saturdays)
Reminder, the new orders allow for curlers under 22 to train and play games. However, instead of maintaining 2m physical distancing, they must now maintain 3m.
For any additional time slots outside of the Junior Program you will need to abide by the 2 people max. per sheet rules.
Note – evening bookings will be given priority to adult curlers.
To request additional time slots outside of the Junior Program, email shannon@gewc.ca as per the instructions above.
