Cover of Knots by Chuck Boeheim

I woke up on Wednesday morning to find the banner above adorning the Amazon page for Knots. While that was lovely decoration to see after one day of sales, how was that possible? It turned out that Amazon had taken it upon itself to add an additional category to the book: Fractal Mathematics. In that slow-selling corner of the book world, it didn't take much to hit the top. Still, this is fiction, not math, so I'll see if I can get the category changed. After I admire that banner a little longer.

If you haven't picked up a copy yet, get it now, and enjoy the company of a charming thief. And his cat.

What we've been reading

Here are four beautiful and compelling novels to add to your reading list.

The Watchmaker of Filigree Street

Natasha Pulley

Steampunk London, 1833. A Japanese watchmaker with a unique ability, a female physicist trying to prove herself, and a government clerk pressed into being a spy. Find unexpected entanglements and a clockwork octopus in this charming tale.

The Raven Tower

Ann Leckie

A unique tale, narrated in the second person by an unseen voice. A land where greater and lesser gods are embedded in objects and places, and are used by those who once worshipped them.

Adrian Goldsworthy

Strange raiders stalk the landscape of northern Britain nearly 2,000 years ago. In a realistic portrayal of military life along the most remote Roman frontier, Centurion Flavius Ferox must solve a mystery and fight to survive and prevent disaster.

Legion: The Many Lives of Stephen Leeds

Brandon Sanderson

Stephen Leeds can learn any topic in hours, but he has to spin up a new personality to contain it. He's perfectly sane, even though he has to have a house large enough for them all to live in, and booking dinners is becoming increasingly complicated.
