Hello Readers,
What's on your agenda for the summer? Reading, I suppose. Mine, too. I've started a list that I'd like to complete by September. But in the meantime, I also have a lot of writing to do. I've got edits due June 15. A new book to turn in by August 15. And life to live, which means there will be distractions.
How do you deal with distractions? Do you let them break into your day and regroup after they are handled? Or do you make lists, like I do, and abide by them? With my lists, I usually choose 3-4 things that absolutely MUST be done that day. If I accomplish those, it frees up my brain to be creative. Of course, kitchen fiascos -- like dropping a carton of sugar on the floor or spilling an entire saucepan of custard will take precedence. Yes, both of those things happened to me this past week when I was making a recipe for my new mystery series. The recipe turned out great! The kitchen mess . . . what a headache!
FYI, if you haven't read my newsletter for a couple of months, you'll learn that I had two books come out -- one in March and one in April. I hope you will take the chance to read one or both, and please tell a friend or librarian!
