The month of April means the end (or almost the end) of the spring study abroad semester. Harding University in Greece (HUG) wrapped up its semester within the first week of the month with Harding University in Florence (HUF) following closely behind after some travel and celebrations. Harding University in Latin America (HULA) spent much of the month traveling to many beautiful and enriching places in South America and will conclude its semester in the first few days of May. Please continue reading to learn more about each program!
Harding University in Latin America
The HULA group spent the first few days of the month in the Amazon Rainforest where they took various walks and boat rides (including a piranha fishing excursion) to marvel at the beauty and biodiversity of the forest. By mid-April, the group found itself hiking into the world-famous Inca citadel of Machu Picchu. After exploring the area, the group next visited the city of Cusco, Peru. April came to a close with the group saying goodbye to El Castillo (HULA's home in Arequipa, Peru) and then setting off on one final adventure to Rapa Nui, perhaps better known as Easter Island to English speakers. The HULA students will return to the USA in the first few days of May, concluding the spring study abroad semester.
Harding University in Greece
April kicked off with the HUG group having just returned from its final group trip – the Greek island of Crete. After returning to the Artemis (HUG Campus), the students took their final exams and enjoyed their final banquet before departing on April 4th and 5th. Some students went directly home while others chose to travel around Europe in groups (in what we refer to as "Independent Travel") before flying home.
Harding University in Florence
HUF students enjoyed five days of independent travel at the start of the month and then made it back to the villa just in time to celebrate Easter together. Next, they took a day trip to Lucca and Pisa. Former HUF students will fondly remember Lucca for the bicycle tour of the city. And everyone recognizes the famous Leaning Tower of Pisa! The semester came to an end on April 18th with some students returning home while others took one more lap of Europe during a final independent travel period.
