Issue 76- September 4, 2020

Hello Friends-

"Welcome back to "The Cre8tive Life"- your weekly newsletter full of lifestyle tips, smiles, and musings.

Not a lot to necessarily share or report on the home front of "new" things that I did this week... I did start playing around with a "new" medium that I hadn't used since I was a little girl- oil pastels. I had a lot of fun exploring and seeing what I could do with those, and even challenged myself with creating some of the random things I was grateful for. Doing that exercise prompted to come up with a new venture that I will be talking more about in my "On The Horizon" portion of the newsletter. I hope you will be as excited as I am about it!

How are you holding up? What has been your highlight this week? Please feel free to send me a little snail mail or email-as I would really like to know!

Random stories, pictures, video highlights, and other life musings can be found on my personal instagram page (@e101) and official brand page (@thecre8tiveartisan) throughout the week (when/if I end up posting anything).

*And, if you have missed any previous newsletters, feel free to check out the archive section on my website: HERE.

Continued prayers that you and your loved ones stay safe and healthy

(mentally & physically) out there 💗.

MY WEEKLY PICKS:

My weekly (random) compilation of some of my favorite "cre8tive" things that I want to share:

  • FAVORITE WORD: Monachopsis (n): the subtle but persistent feeling of being out of place.

  • ADVICE: “And now that you don't have to be perfect, you can be good." - John Steinbeck

  • MOOD MUSIC: I serendipitously stumbled upon another great NPR Tiny Desk (Home) Concert from an artist I wasn't familiar with this week, Tiwa Savage. I loved the mellow vibe of her set and her band. My favorite song was, "Koroba" which hits at the 12:51 time mark.

  • QUARANTINE RECOMMENDATION: This week I binge-watched the series, "Love On The Spectrum," on Netflix. The premise is set around highlighting and following seven young adults on the autism spectrum as they search for love. The honesty and pureness of their perspectives was so touching and refreshing. I highly recommend it for the hopeful romantics (like myself) and others who are looking for something a little lighthearted and touching in these dark times.

  • THE MORE YOU KNOW: One of my favorite types of podcasts are the storytelling ones. I like listening to them because they allow you to step into the mind of someone else, and hear and feel an experience from another lens of life. The Moth, one of my absolute favorite podcasts, does a great job of curating these moments-especially, at their live shows (which I highly recommend you attend when we (hopefully) eventually make it out of quarantine). I loved this episode centered around the theme of, "People, Problems, and Places."

  • LIFESTYLE TIP: I know that none of you are tired of "traditional cooking," and looking for easy (lazy) ways out...but, I figured you might just know someone who is...and, that said "someone" might enjoy this list of 21 Recipes You Can Make in Your Microwave. Let me know if any of your "friends" find something that they like!

MUSINGS ON LIFE:

I came across this quote earlier in the week, and was inspired to make an art piece out of it. I hope it will bring you a little light and encouragement.

CRE8TIVE CHALLENGE OF THE WEEK:

This week's challenge is to do the best you can,

and to trust the process of your journey.

ON THE HORIZON:

If you have been reading my newsletters, and/or following any of my social media for any length of time, you may be aware that in addition to being an event producer, I am an artist. Art has always been a major outlet of self-care and therapy for me. In fact, it is one of the very reasons of how/why I came up with the name, "The Cre8tive Artisan."

I have been doing A TON of "art therapy" during quarantine, and have decided that I will be facilitating some small group "Cre8tive Art Therapy" sessions for people who need to take a little break from the madness of the world, and explore their cre8tive side. The sessions will be around an hour and a half long, and will be done bi-weekly.

I will be testing out a few days/times for the offerings, but would REALLY appreciate it if you could fill out this mini poll of interest of what would work best for you (*you can click above or below).

Thanks in advance for your support!

Lastly, if you happen to have any future topic ideas, or come across any events I should know about, PLEASE feel free to send those along my way. I always LOVE discovering and learning about new things!

Have a great day, and be sure to take time to enjoy your life!
