DER is adding new tools to further enhance efficiency and customer experience

Over the next four weeks DER will be adding additional tools to increase DER’s ability to efficiently serve the faculty throughout the proposal development process. The first new tool will be a new remote access network folder tool. A secure network URL will be sent to the project PI for each project in which he/she will have the ability to upload, view, and navigate the files related to that particular proposal. Access to this folder and the ability to transfer files will assist in reducing the number of file transfer emails. Faculty will also have immediate access to proposal file documents related to that specific proposal. As time progresses, faculty will also be able to view past proposals and will be able to access past forms from previous submissions. DER is also working on space within the shared drive to provide sample documents to assist faculty as they apply to sponsors for the first time. The structure of the shared drives is being developed and DER is excited to incorporate this important tool and further increase our ability to efficiently serve our faculty.

DER will provide accelerated support for any COVID-19 proposals that have short-term deadlines…

As we navigate this chapter of the COVID-19 story, DER recognizes many time sensitive research opportunities related to this topic that are quickly becoming available. MSU College of Engineering faculty are a critical part to create solutions for many of these challenges related to this pandemic. To assist DER will provide accelerated support for any COVID-19 proposals that may have short-term deadlines. Please see new opportunities related to COVID-19 posted at https://www.egr.msu.edu/der/secure-page/coronavirus-funding-opportunities.

Working From Home With Help!

To brighten everyone's week, DER is going to feature staff working from home with their furry friends who assist them! This week meet Robert and his rabbit Dove! Dove is a senior blue doe Dutch rabbit from a breeder in Mid-Michigan. She has been with the Nelsen family since March 2019. Dove is a fun, loving rabbit who loves to take long walks around the house. She is cared for by Robert's daughter, Madelynn Nelsen.

If you would like to nominate a faculty member and their pets (or yourself!), email hansleyc@msu.edu

As we know, faculty are doing research as well as teaching online classes, here is some musical inspiration.
