From the President

Well our year has started with many changes and directions that have allowed for Perth Homeless Support Group to be the forefront of assisting with those experiencing homelessness. Last year moves were made to put an Accreditation Process into action for all groups feeding many on our streets . This however was problematic and not productive in other organisations knowing what was available and therefore many overlaps were occurring and people were missing out .

We were very Proud to have been given our Accreditation. What does this mean?

Simply it means we as an Non for profit can continue to provide our service in a very powerful and confident way to over 200 people each week with the support of the City of Perth and the State.

This also allows for us to be able to go forward and establish other services that will assist those who have been able to now get off the street and into their own little place . The homeless hub has been established at Moore street and the local Government will be spending money to make this site very inviting to the other services to also operate safely and effectively.

Our set up Sundays has had to go a stronger direction in making sure the Volunteers and Leaders are protected and comfortable to be able to offer the services . We have access to Running water , Electricity which has been wonderful as we are able to have Urns for our hot water for the Tea, coffee , Hot Chocolate .

I would personally like to thank many of you who have been so generous in your donations of goods and financial support . This truly makes what we do a great joy .

Again, thank you to everyone for your commitment to the cause to end homelessness .

From the Treasurer

Recent events, both locally and internationally have had an effect on all Australians.

The tragic events in the East States being affected by Bush Fires, have seen a very generous Australian response with donations to ease the suffering of those who have been mostly impacted by the fires.

PHSG has seen a decrease in the money our supporters have been donating to the Organisation. Unlike many of the Charities who have received donation for the Fire Relief, PHSG does not squirrel way future funds. All monies donated to the Organisation are used for the benefit of those experiencing homelessness.

We have managed to keep our Administration budget below 7% for the entire 6 years of operation, largely due to PHSG having a very strong and committed Volunteer Base.

I am making a request to our members to please consider our Local Issues of homelessness and assist PHSG to continue our good work. We are very grateful to those who make a regular donation. Your monies and efforts go a long way in providing our recipients with the comfort items needed for day to day rough sleeping.

Just as well we don’t supply Toilet Paper, things would be most dire indeed.

Thank you for reading through my letter and living into our motto, See the need; Make a difference without Prejudice.

Winter Extra's Appeal Update

The fundraising appeal went very well and the monies needed to buy the items came in very quickly.

A big Thank you to all who contributed on behalf of those experiencing homelessness.

I was only able to place the order recently. The Choronavirus has seen the factories in China close for a period of time and everything came to an abrupt halt.

Our supplier has since commenced business again and has advised me that the back orders will take between 10 to 29 days to put together. No need for concern with timing, winter is still time enough away for the items to reach us here in Perth.

I will keep everyone posted on the tracking of the consignment.
