Welcome to your Mead Way newsletter

This newsletter provides key updates on the Mead Way improvement scheme and details of any road closures and diversions which may affect you, your staff or your customers.

This newsletter is issued monthly to update you on progress but if you'd like any more information, you can find this on our website or by contacting the team.

If you’re new to the newsletter, you can read the previous editions here.

What's been happening?

Vital work to improve Mead Way is continuing to make good progress, despite the COVID-19 situation.

The contractor has been carrying on with drainage work, which has involved some deep excavations to connect into existing apparatus. The footpath has also been dug up, as can be seen in the photo below.

The stretch of road between the Meads and Westmead roundabouts remains under a full 24/7 closure. Due to a burst water main, Tewkesbury Way was also closed for five days resulting in the diversion route for Mead Way being adjusted to compensate for this closure. Tewkesbury Way has since re-opened and the original diversion route for Mead Way has been re-established.

Safety on site - please be aware

It has become apparent that some members of the public have been entering and travelling through the site. This is a live construction site and fenced off for the safety of the public. Please do not enter it under any circumstances.

What's happening next?

The contractor is going to begin to install kerbs and street lighting columns.

Two utility companies will also be attending site soon to carry out their respective diversionary work while exercising social distancing and safe operating procedures.

Work will continue at Mead Way for as long as we are able to, but we are closely following government guidance and making changes to the programme where necessary.
