Hero or villain? You tell me :)
Here are some other fancinating things I've been reading and listen to this past month:
1. I've been really excited by the high level of sci fi entertainment lately. (No, not Obi Wan Kenobi, but that's a different story). Here's a hidden little gem that has a "darkly romantic spirit of risk and peril that feels informed as much by pre-Disney literary fairytales as any science fiction." Check out this joint Lituanian-Belgian production called "Vesper".
2. Along the same lines, I muse here on the subject of the transcendent as depicted in the usually very grounded genres of sci fi. Check out "Secular Sci Fi and the Transcendent," a new episode of Fantasy for our Time.
3. The latest episode of "In a Certain Kingdom" is a wonderfully fun tale of mistaken identities and very strong female protagonists. Check out "The Tale of Vasilisa Mikulishna"
4. A slightly guilty pleasure of mine, Ben Aaronovitch's Rivers of London series, is getting a second lease on possible cinematic life. This would be a very fun series if it got adapted.
5. My Patreon book club just finished Howl's Moving Castle. It's a wonderful fairy tale written for children, but is equally appealing to adults. The audiobook is especially good.
Thanks, as always, for coming along with me for my writerly adventures!
