MLTAV-funded places for the AFMLTA International Languages Conference
5-6 July 2021, online via Zoom
The MLTAV is pleased to be able to support a limited number of members to participate in the AFMLTA International Languages Conference to be held online on 5-6 July 2021.
All successful applicants will need to write a short piece for the December 2021 edition of MLTAV's journal, Languages Victoria. This would be a minimum of 500 words reflecting on key learnings from conference sessions attended. Funded places will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. When all places have been filled this application process will be closed. This is an excellent opportunity to access quality Professional Learning suited to teachers of all languages across all levels. The Minister for Education recently announced the establishment of the Victorian Academy of Teaching and Leadership. The Academy will deliver an Australian-first program of advanced professional learning for exceptional teachers in government, Catholic and independent schools.
The new Teaching Excellence Program will be delivered from the Academy’s purpose-designed facilities located at 41 St Andrews Place, and seven regional locations ensuring access to high-quality professional development across all Victorian schools.
Teaching Excellence Program
The Teaching Excellence Program (TEP) is a discipline-focused one-year program designed to advance professional expertise and practice for highly skilled teachers from government, Catholic and independent schools. On graduation Teaching Excellence Program participants will be Fellows of the Academy and can then apply for Master Teacher roles in the Academy or further action research through the Academy Fellowship program.

ACARA Australian Curiculum Review: Languages
ACARA has recently been reviewing the Australian Curriculum across all areas including Languages.
There are 14 individual Languages curricula in the Australian Curriculum. The review has so far proposed revisions to the second language pathways for F-10 and Years 7-10 in Chinese, French, Italian and Japanese. The other Languages subjects and pathways will follow in stages and be completed by 2023.
The Languages Consultation Curriculum for Chinese, French, Italian and Japanese are now available to download and review. Teachers of languages are encouraged to provide feedback through the online survey available on the ACARA Consultation website.
The opportunity to participate in this consultation process will be open until 8 July 2021.
