As gorgeous as cow country is, dear friends, I can now understand why many New Yorkers winter in Florida.
Wow.
The sun. The water. The... crocodiles?
Yes, even the crocodiles.
My wife and I were honored to take part in First Things Foundation's event "The Art of the Tamada," where I spoke about hospitality as healing, and also got to experience the healing of hospitality through the feasting tradition of the Georgians.
Let me tell you. The food, the toasting, the sense of being part of a millennium-old tradition... it was something else.
It was also a chance for me to rest with my wife and celebrate our 10th year anniversary. It was truly regenerative and wonderful.
I was also supposed to meet Jonathan Pageau for the first time at the Florida event. Unfortunately, it didn't happen, but we did get together (virtually) shortly after I returned to talk about Jonathan's wonderful worldbuilding class, part of the St Basil Writers' Workshop (which will open registration in about a month).
We had a wonderful time talking about his class, about Jonathan's fairy tale series, and future plans for storytelling over the next few years. Lovely people, get ready! There are going to be many new and good books coming out by some wonderful writers.
It's an exciting time to be a lover of story.
