Welcome to my Universe!

I survived #NaNoWriMo!

Now, you might be wondering what NaNoWriMo is, and why I said I survived it. Basically, it is a self-imposed deadline that writers give themselves in the month of November to finish the first draft of a novel. Participants have 30 days to write 50,000 words, which is about the length of a Novella like Twist of Fate

I decided to participate for the first time this year, and I had fun tracking the experience on social media. What was really great was that I started the month with 40,000 words, and after the addition of what I wrote during NaNo I am now over 91,000 in the final book of The Power of Four series!

I just have a few more chapters to go and then will be editing! I still have a lot of work to do on the draft as far as clean-up and rearranging, but the bones are there, and that is pretty exciting! Heaven on Earth is shaping up to be an amazing story and I can't wait to share it with you!

If you are interested in my NaNoWriMo shenanigans, you can check out my blog post here. I also posted a daily thread on Twitter that gives you a pretty good feel for my attitude throughout the month. It was intense, but I am so glad I did it. It was just the boost I needed on this book!

12th Annual

Girls Night Out Book Signing

I recently participated in a Girls Night Out Book Signing with members of the Greater Detroit Romance Writers of America, and we had an amazing night. It is always nice to visit with family and friends and connect with readers during events like this. I will be introducing a few of these fabulous authors during the 12 Days of Christmas celebration on my blog starting December 25th. You won't want to miss these spotlights since I know some pretty fantastic writers! If you follow me on Twitter or like my Author Page on Facebook the posts will be shared there.

The Power of Four Series

Sea of Dreams

In January, I will be working on revisions to my first book, Sea of Dreams. I have grown as a writer with each book of this series, and while I still love the story, I do recognize that Book One is a smidge too long. I will be working with my editor to see where we can trim the fat, and hope to have a new edition out prior to the launch of Heaven on Earth. A boxed set for the series will be on the agenda as well.

Latest Fabulous Fiction Find!

Circe by Madeline Miller

I thought it might be fun to share a book from my TBR pile, which seems to be getting longer and longer each time I finish one! So many good books, so little time! Anyway, I just finished Circe by Madeline Miller and I just loved it! The story is told from the viewpoint of the Goddess Circe and was a fun take on her involvement in the development of witchcraft. The book explains the relationship between Circe and Odysseus, who spent quite some time with her on her remote island where she had been banished. This story is worth checking out if you like fictional tales about the Greek Gods and Goddesses. So good!

Coming up....
AKA: What else have I gotten myself into?

I'm looking forward to some time with friends and family during the holidays, and hope that this season brings you much love and happiness.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, and see you in 2020!
