WorkSafeNB has been recognized as one of Atlantic Canada’s Top Employers for the second consecutive year, reflecting the organization’s continued focus on creating a strong and supportive workplace.

The Focus on Safety Student Video Competition is back, inviting New Brunswick high school students to use creativity to spotlight the importance of working safely. Hosted by WorkSafeNB in partnership with the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety, the annual competition challenges students to create a two‑minute original video that highlights workplace safety risks young workers may face in after‑school jobs or future careers.

With young workers experiencing higher rates of workplace injury, the competition encourages students to think critically about safety and prevention while competing for cash prizes for both themselves and their schools. The submission deadline is tomorrow, April 1, 2026.

Under New Brunswick’s Occupational Health and Safety Act, a home under construction becomes a workplace, and property owners have a role in keeping workers safe.

WorkSafeNB’s residential construction and renovation resources help homeowners understand their obligations before work begins. This includes hiring safety‑conscious contractors, identifying potential hazards such as asbestos, lead, or electrical risks and ensuring proper insurance and compliance are in place.

By planning ahead and asking the right questions, homeowners can help protect workers on their property and reduce the risk of injury throughout their project.
