"Jesus said to his disciples: 'If you love me, you will keep my commandments. And I will ask the Father and he will give you another Advocate, to be with you forever ...
The one who has my commandments and keeps them is the one who loves me; and the one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love them and reveal myself to them.'"

A Prayer for Ukraine
God of peace and justice, we pray for the people of Ukraine today. We pray for peace and the laying down of weapons. We pray for all those who fear for tomorrow, that your spirit of comfort would draw near to them. We pray for those with power over war or peace, for wisdom, discernment and compassion to guide their decisions. Above all, we pray for all your precious children at risk and in fear that you would hold and protect them. We pray in the name of Jesus the Prince of Peace. Amen.

Hi Everyone!
May I begin by wishing all of our wonderful mothers, step-mothers, grandmothers, mothers-in-law and God-mothers, both here on earth and in Heaven, a very happy, and joy-filled Mother's Day! We are SO very grateful for your unconditional, unwavering love and friendship, for all the important "things of life" you teach/taught us, for the fine spiritual example you set for us, and for always believing in us and being there to cheer us on. You are truly a gift from God. While it is impossible to match your work ethic and your commitment to your faith, your family and your community, we can definitely, in your honour, give it our best shot! May God bless ALL of our Moms, as they have so richly blessed us.
As a mother of three very high-energy, athletic, risk-taking boys, and now with three grand-boys with pretty much these identical "adventurous" attributes, I kind of have to agree with Mark Twain here - while there was never a physical challenge that these boys would not attempt, (while always risking life and limb), that were enough to make me have 911 on speed dial, I did kind of admire and enjoy their creativity, bravery, courage, athleticism, sense of fun, and the ability to pretty much always land on their feet! Thank the Lord! Having said all that, I continue to pray for some grand-daughters - who hopefully will be a little less risk-takey (or not)! Anyway, Happy Mother's Day to Moms of both boys and girls!

Seeding is underway over most of the province as farmers and gardeners look to the skies to see if those rain clouds are going to actually open up and drop some much-needed moisture or just tease us and skirt around us. The Roughrider Rookie camp ran this week in Saskatoon and now the BIG training camp starts here on Monday, as potential future Roughriders do all they can to impress the coaches and make that final roster. The Edmonton Oilers and the Toronto Maple Leafs continue to do battle to keep their hopes alive in pursuit of Lord Stanley's Cup! I just LOVE this time of year!
Have a wonderful Mother's Day weekend everyone, enjoy your beautiful HOT third week of May (already!) and talk to you next week!
Mother's Day Blessings,
Marlene

A couple of well-deserved THANK-YOU'S!
Thanks again for the fantastic support of the Steak Night Fundraiser we had last Sunday! Due to your generosity and support, the Steak Night raised $1827.24 for our Parish, and we had a lot of fun doing it! We need to have another one of those down the road!
On another note, the Art & Environment Committee, on our behalf, want to thank Paige, the head of the Floral Department over at Freshco in Market Mall. Paige has been SO generous, so attentive to our floral needs, and is a real pleasure to work with. If things aren't quite right, Paige MAKES them right! We are SO blessed to have such an amazing community partner like Paige!

Family Fun Parish Spring BBQ!
Sunday, June 4
Come one, come all! It's time to celebrate our beautiful Spring/Summer weather as well as each other! And what better way to do that than by having a good old family BBQ? Our Parish Family BBQ will be held on Sunday, June 4, after the 10 am Mass, so from around 11 am - 1 pm, out back in and around the St. Philip School gym.
The Parish will be supplying the hamburgers and hotdogs, and we ask that parishioners sign up on the posted sheets in the Welcome Area to indicate how many are coming from your family. As far as what you can contribute to the food table, here are the two categories, according to your last name:
Last names A-K: Please bring SAVOURY (ie: salads. appetizers, veggies)
Last names L-Z: Please bring SWEET (ie: dessert or fruit)
There are also four "Volunteer Sign-Up sheets" for folks to help with the BBQ set-up, food serving, Kid’s Zone and take-down/clean-up. Many hands make light work so please help out where you are able. This is one of our biggest Parish events of the year, so we hope you will join us for some great food, family fun and fellowship!
