All We Need Is In Jesus!

We are all needy by default…
Jesus healed those who were sick and fed people who were hungry. Because of that, crowds were following Him. But He wanted them to know that who He was, was far greater than what He had to offer!

John 6:36 reads, “Then Jesus declared? “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.”

God could have created us to need absolutely nothing. But instead, He made us dependent on things like food, water, oxygen, sleep, sunlight, and Him. He intentionally designed this world with specific needs and certain limitations.

Just as food and water are essential for human life, everyday realities point us to spiritual truths. We need Jesus even more than we need the essentials of life.

To God Be The Glory, we are needy by default. May we not follow Jesus merely for what He has to offer, but for who He is. May we all realize that this world will never satisfy, but we already have access to true nourishment. We can come to Him to be filled because He is the Bread of Life!

4th Quarter Church Meeting

On Saturday, December 6th, the Parent Body Missionaries took “Warm” Christmas Cheer to the 120+ residents of the Homestead Nursing Home. Each resident was presented with a warm blanket. These blankets were purchased and donated over several months by missionary members. Two HPGMBC members, Sisters Anna Jarber and Thelma Masterson, are residents at Homestead. Their eyes lit up to see church family members dispensing blankets to each room in the facility while serenading them with Christmas Carols. One resident who had befriended Sister Masterson and who hoped to visit our church, said that she was anxiously awaiting her church family's arrival.  The residents and the staff were very appreciative. All of the missionaries who participated seemed to be filled with joy as we delivered “Warm“ Christmas Cheer to the residents of Homestead Nursing Home. Sisters Delores Spencer and Nancy Holmes planned and led this mission effort.

To God Be the Glory for the opportunity to bring Jesus Joy to others!

This morning we celebrated our Parent Body Missionary Society Pew Service!

Deacons Givens, Wright and Jackson led the congregation in devotions, praying, testifying and singing “Glory To His Name!”

The Call To worship was given by Rev. Dr. Samuel Peoples, Interim Pastor. “I woke up this morning with my mind stayed on Him. I’m glad to be alive. I’m glad to have a place to worship!”

Sister Nina Jackson, our Mistress of Ceremony, extended greetings to all and introduced the program for the day.

The Mass Choir sang familiar songs and classics of the season including, “O Come Let Us Adore Him,” “There’s Nothing Better Than Knowing Jesus,” “Every Praise,” “The Goodness of God,” “It Is Well,” and “Expect Your Miracle”.

The Unison Scripture Reading, from Luke 1:30-38, was led by Sister Marcella Morton.

The heartfelt morning prayer by Sister Elisa Leath thanked God for this day, for our lives and for our blessings. “Lord please give us the mindset to stay fixed on You!”

A hearty welcome to visitors was given by Sister Grace Rene’ Washington. “We are happy that you have decided to join us today. Whenever you’re in this area feel free to come by and worship again. We promise not to keep you long, but just long enough.”

The President’s Greetings was given by Sister Delores Spencer. “There’s nothing better than knowing Jesus for myself. I am a witness for my Lord. My soul is a witness for my Lord. And I count it all joy!” She thanked the Lord’s sustaining power to serve for another year. “We are on the move to do great things in our ministry for the upbuilding of God’s kingdom. In the last several months, we have fed over 390 meals to the Ronald McDonald House, and we delivered over 140 blankets to the clients at the Homestead Nursing Home.” She thanked all who tirelessly serve throughout the year. “Thank you Pleasant Green for your support and all your labors of love!”

The Presentation of our Interim Pastor was given by Brother Desmond Duncan. “He’s had me excited hearing the word every Sunday.”

The Word From the Lord was preached by Interim Pastor, Rev. Dr. Samuel Peoples.

He shared his subject, “With God” from Luke 1:37 and then sang, “Great Is Thy Faithfulness.”

“Every now and then when you feel like you’re not sure, remember how faithful He is to us. And whatever you need He has in His hands.” He reminded us, “With God, nothing shall be impossible.”

“On this day I would encourage and remind you, that you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you. I don’t want to know what it would be like to be without God. I’ve learned early in my life to trust Him for who He is. God has a way of moving to get you where He wants you to be. With God, eternal imprints will be left. Is there anybody here that shouldn’t be here, but is!? Is there somebody here who can testify I was a shouldn’t and a couldn’t, but With God. All through Luke it keeps saying, the Lord is with Thee. Give God some credit for the “With-ness” of God.

I thank the Lord, that He is with me!”

The Invitation To Discipleship was extended. Sister Vicki Laine asks the pastor and entire church family for prayers as she goes in for medical tests on Tuesday. And Sister Vanessa Thompson asks for prayer for her best friend. Rev Peoples lifted them up in prayer. “Prayer changes things!”

The Offertory Appeal and Prayer was given by Brother Anthony Wright. The Pew Service Taxation this year is $20 for those who can share. “Thank you for the spirit of the missionaries who serve and for what they do for the community and this church.”

The Lord’s Supper was observed immediately following. A Bible was presented to our most recent member baptized and the right hand of fellowship was given to all who recently joined the church.

Current Focus: Monitoring my health and being a new granny!

Career: I am a retired Fayette County Public School teacher. I taught preschool for 24 years until my health prevented me from continuing.

Why this Career?: I realized the gift GOD gave me in teaching students included teaching students with special needs. I became the go to teacher for speech and autism. Students with special needs were able to succeed when I supported them because of the faith I had in them.

What do you want your church family to know about you?: I am a child of GOD! GOD has given me several gifts. One is teaching. Another gift is in music. GOD has not released me from those gifts. I am praying and staying in the WORD. GOD will make room for my gifts.

As I trust GOD to direct me on how to use my teaching and music gifts, I am also trusting HIM to direct me in my newest assignment: being a grandmother! Babies are a gift from GOD. I am “in love” with our little blessing, Amillia! She looks just like her mother, Sabrynn. Sabrynn is our eldest daughter.

I am the only daughter of our late Pastor, Dr. T. H. Peoples Jr. and our musician emerita, Dr. Delma Peoples. What a blessing to be a child of “TH” and “Muffy”. LOL (Muffy is a nickname we’ve given to our mother). Also sharing in this blessing of being their adult children are my brothers: Thomas “Tom” III, Stewart, Samuel “Sam” and my twin, David. All the boys had nicknames. Tom is Tinker. Stewart is Stew Baby. Sam is Sam I am. David is Dave. We’ve already nicknamed our newest arrival, “Millie.” Millie recognizes me as her, “Gigi!”

Is there anything special your church can do for you? My church can continue to pray for me. I feel their spirit. Sometimes it feels like a big hug coming from our church family

What do you want your church family to know about GOD?: GOD is today, tomorrow and forever more. HE will be with you always.
