Principal’s Comments:

Dear Parents and Friends of the School,

I would like to thank you for your continued support of our school. The donations of jars filled with treats, mystery bottles and cakes just to name a few, are very much appreciated. Registering to support the stall that your child’s class has been allocated is also much appreciated. I look forward to seeing you all on Saturday for what should be another fantastic social event. Thanks to the PTA and the Battle Dads.

We also appreciate your support for our ‘mufti’ day last Friday. Robyn has counted the money raised at school and we have made a donation of $1100 to the Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund.

Thanks for your attendance at our Parent Teacher Conference on Tuesday. The staff really appreciated your time and giving insight into your child. If you need any follow ups please make an appointment to see your child’s teacher.

The Year 6 children have their camp next week and the Year 5 children have their camp the following week. Thanks to all the parents who volunteered to give up time to support these educational experiences.

The Ministry of Education is requiring all schools to have a Teacher Only Day in the first two weeks of Term 2 so staff can have professional development on the new Curriculum Refresh, which also includes the ‘Aotearoa New Zealand Histories’ Curriculum (as part of the Social Sciences Curriculum). Our Board of Trustees has agreed to have our Teacher Only Day on Monday 24 April. This was going to be our first day back to school in Term 2. ANZAC Day is Tuesday 25 April, therefore our first day with children will be Wednesday 26 April. School finishes this term on Thursday 6 April (Good Friday is 7 April). It is highly probable that the other Peninsula Primary Schools will also have Monday 24 April as their Teacher Only Day as will Belmont Intermediate.

Congratulations to the children who were voted in as House Captains and Vice Captains this week.

I would like to remind families that school starts at 9am and we would like the children at school between 8.30 and 8.55pm. We are noticing that some children are arriving late. This has many consequences, including friendships and being organised for their learning.

I look forward to seeing you at Room 13’s (Yr 4) assembly tomorrow.

PTA Update

Only two and a half weeks to go until the school fair on Saturday 4 March 11am-4pm!

Thanks so much to those who have already volunteered to work on a stall on the day - it's a really easy way to help out and a great chance to meet new people.

If you haven't already, please put your name down to volunteer for an hour by going to the sign up page here. (You'll also find the sign up link on Kindo).

If you are able to help for more than one time-slot that would be amazing, but whatever you can manage is really appreciated. Your child's class has been allocated a stall (the class that fills all their spots first wins ice creams!), but feel free to sign up for any stand you like.
