Non-governmental kindergarten "Nendre"
Highlights from our daily life

The school year started on September 1st and we were happy to welcome 5 new kindergarterners and 3 new school-aged children to Nendre! Together we have struggled through the first weeks of adaptation and new routines - older children and the whole Nendre community have showed a great support in helping the newcommers to feel at home. As usal, we have a multicultural group of children who speak Lithuanian, Russian, Polish, English and Kurdish.

Flashbacks from the summer camp

In the beginning of August, a group of 17 kids took part in a yearly summer camp in the village of Akmeniskes in Svencionys district. The week has been filled with outdoor activities, hikes in the surroundings and evenings by the fire. Gradually, day by day, the longing for screen time got weeker and some kids were amazed to discover other activities that could be even more fun!

People working at Nendre
Shift in leadership

Danute Mituziene, the soul and heart of Nendre since its establishment in 1998, has handed over the leadership of organisation to Edita Koliataite, who was previoustly working as a teacher and deputy for education at Nendre.
Appreciation for Danute's long-term, sincere and professional work has been expressed not only by Nendre's community, neighbors, shareholders, partners and municipality representatives, but she has also received the highest award of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labour - the Heart of Kindness.

Farewell to volunteer Slav

After spending a year at Nendre, our volunteer Slav returned back to his homecountry Bulgaria to complete his studies in Marketing. He has been a great playmate for our kids and an engaged team member who was always ready to give a hand. He has even managed to learn Lithuanian, which is always impressive!

Our partners and sponsors
Support raised at the International Christmas Charity Bazaar

Nendre was selected as one of the beneficiaries of the International Christmas Charity Bazaar 2018, organized by the International Women's Association of Vilnius in cooperation with the international community in Lithuania. Thanks to this support, 8052 euro, Nendre has been able to renew its heating system and install an air-to-water pump, which is a huge improvement in terms of efficiency and provides a better environment and air quality for everyone at Nendre.

Sponsors on the Åland Islands

Emmaus Åland association in Finland is one of our shareholders and long-term sponsors. We also feel privileged to have a group of private sponsors on the Åland Islands who support us with monthly donations. The money is used to cover the expences that are not funded from any other local funding sources. This also enables us to keep the kindergarten fees at the same level as at public kindergartens and make discounts to families who experience financial difficulties.
