🌳🌳 Marching into Autumn, 2024! 🌳🌳

March brings the start of Autumn and the leaves start to turn brown. We've had reports from our volunteer growers that some seedling species are almost jumping out of their pots, while some others species seem to have suffered from the lack of hot days. Landholders, it's time to start thinking about site preparation.

North Central Catchment Management Authority

Victorian Carbon Farming Program

Applications for grant funding under the Victorian Carbon Farming Program Pilot are now open for Landowners in the North Central Catchment Management Authority region. Interested Landowners are encouraged to contact Joanne Roberts, TreeProject VCFP Admin to discuss carbon farming project proposal.

Introducing Our Native Garden Nursery

TreeProject have been looking to extend our reach for several years now to include growers living in rural areas. We are happy to collaborate with Our Native Garden and will be setting up a Hub in Wodonga which will act as a central location for growers and landholders in that region. The advantages of such hubs will be:

Growers will be able to participate without needing to access their growing kits from Melbourne
Growers will be supported by other like-minded volunteers living in the same area and will be able to get together as a social group.
Landholders will be able to pick up their established seedlings without needing to travel to Melbourne

Ribbons of Green

We are excited to continue our collaboration with Ribbons of Green, an initiative of the Yarra Ranges Council. They offer free native plants for private properties to encourage the restoration of habitats across the Yarra Ranges. Our volunteer growers are growing over 37,000 seedlings for this amazing project this year, and we will be organising planting days soon, so look out for our planting calendar in the next newsletter!

TreeProject Grower Portal

Just a reminder to all our growers - please remember to keep up to date with your portal notes. It's really important to keep logging your plant growth so we know how many seedlings to expect at the end of the growing season.

Sponsor a Planting Day

Join us in supporting our Landholders by sponsoring a tree planting day!

We're starting to put together our planting-day calendar and we are looking for corporate sponsors. Help to cover the costs involved in organising and running a planting day. We aim to plant up to 1000 seedlings per day.

You can sponsor a planting day with or without attending. It's a great team-building activity and lots of fun!

Planting days occur from May - August. Reply email for more information or a discussion.
