Throughout this month of August we have looked at biblical attributes of God. God is beyond all description, yet within every description. Human words simply don’t do God justice. But biblical scripture gives a clear description of who God is and offers qualities we should strive to emulate.
He is Righteous!
2 Corinthians 5:21 declares…God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
He is Gentle!
2 Samuel 22:36 reads…You make your saving help my shield; your help has made me great.
He is Peaceful!
Galatians 5:22 states…But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
He is Trustworthy!
2 Samuel 7:28 says…Sovereign Lord, you are God! Your covenant is trustworthy, and you have promised these good things to your servant.
He is the Creator!
Genesis 1:1 affirms…In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
He is Unchanging!
Malachi 3:6 encourages…“I the Lord do not change. So you, the descendants of Jacob, are not destroyed.
He is Merciful!
Psalm 116:5 assures…The Lord is gracious and righteous; our God is full of compassion.
He is Worthy!
Revelation 4:11 proclaims…“You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being.”
God isn’t like us. The Bible describes this in Isaiah 55:8-9. “‘For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,’ declares the LORD. ‘For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.'”
To God Be The Glory, these biblical references and characteristics set the bar high for each and every one of us. They shine a light on ways we can do better and be better representatives throughout our Christian walk as we live our lives praising our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

Top 10 Homework Tips
Kids are more successful in school when parents take an active interest in their homework — it shows kids that what they do is important.
Of course, helping with homework shouldn't mean spending hours hunched over a desk. Parents can be supportive by demonstrating study and organization skills, explaining a tricky problem, or just encouraging kids to take a break. And who knows? Parents might even learn a thing or two!
Here are some tips to guide the way:
- Know the teachers — and what they're looking for. Attend school events, such as parent-teacher conferences, to meet your child's teachers. Ask about their homework policies and how you should be involved.
- Set up a homework-friendly area. Make sure kids have a well-lit place to complete homework. Keep supplies — paper, pencils, glue, scissors — within reach.
- Schedule a regular study time. Some kids work best in the afternoon, following a snack and play period; others may prefer to wait until after dinner.
- Help them make a plan. On heavy homework nights or when there's an especially hefty assignment to tackle, encourage your child break up the work into manageable chunks. Create a work schedule for the night if necessary — and take time for a 15-minute break every hour, if possible.
- Keep distractions to a minimum. This means no TV, loud music, or phone calls. (Occasionally, though, a phone call to a classmate about an assignment can be helpful.)
- Make sure kids do their own work. They won't learn if they don't think for themselves and make their own mistakes. Parents can make suggestions and help with directions. But it's a kid's job to do the learning.
- Be a motivator and monitor. Ask about assignments, quizzes, and tests. Give encouragement, check completed homework, and make yourself available for questions and concerns.
- Set a good example. Do your kids ever see you diligently balancing your budget or reading a book? Kids are more likely to follow their parents' examples than their advice.
- Praise their work and efforts. Post an aced test or art project on the refrigerator. Mention academic achievements to relatives.
- If there are continuing problems with homework, get help. Talk about it with your child's teacher. Some kids have trouble seeing the board and may need glasses; others might need an evaluation for a learning problem or attention disorder.

KNOWING YOUR NUMBERS
The definition for what is considered high blood pressure has been tightened and the numbers lowered. Targeting a systolic goal of the upper number of 120 is no longer the aim and studies show reductuctions in having a heart attack, stroke and a decrease chance of developing heart failure. The pre- hypertension stage has been eliminated. Stage 1 hypertension is 130-139/80-89. Stage 2 hypertension is considered 140/90. Anything blood reading pressure above 180/120 is considered a crisis. What can you do when you have been told that you are hypertensive or have high blood pressure, I am glad you asked. Make every effort to lower your numbers by: taking all physician prescribed medicines as directed, maintain a heart healthy diet, exercise, get plenty of rest, lower the stress. Remember to live life to the fullest, while asking yourself how low can I go.

FLU
Flu is a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses that infect the nose, throat, and sometimes the lungs. It can cause mild to severe illness, and at times can lead to death.
Flu shots are available at local pharmacies. Consult your physician regarding a flu vaccination.
RSV
Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a common, contagious virus that usually causes mild symptoms. In older adults and adults with certain underlying conditions, RSV can cause severe infections.
RSV shots are available at local pharmacies. Consult your physician regarding a RSV vaccination.
COVID-19
Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
Most people infected with the virus will experience mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover without requiring special treatment. However, some will become seriously ill and require medical attention. Older people and those with underlying medical conditions like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic respiratory disease, or cancer are more likely to develop serious illness. Anyone can get sick with COVID-19 and become seriously ill or die at any age.
The best way to prevent and slow down transmission is to be well informed about the disease and how the virus spreads. Protect yourself and others from infection by staying at least 1 metre apart from others, wearing a properly fitted mask, and washing your hands or using an alcohol-based rub frequently. Get vaccinated when it’s your turn and follow local guidance.
The virus can spread from an infected person’s mouth or nose in small liquid particles when they cough, sneeze, speak, sing or breathe. These particles range from larger respiratory droplets to smaller aerosols. It is important to practice respiratory etiquette, for example by coughing into a flexed elbow, and to stay home and self-isolate until you recover if you feel unwell.
Both COVID vaccines and Booster COVID vaccines are available at local pharmacies. Consult your physician regarding COVID vaccinations.
