Cafe : 5 years : Sharing the good times...

https://www.friendsofhardiepark.co.uk/news/

We are ten years into the project and have a community cafe that has been in place for 5 years, such an amazing achievement. The trustees now manage Friends of Hardie Park alongside a fantastic team of volunteers and will continue to do all the good things for and with the community to ensure the legacy of Hardie Park lives on.

Six months into our new chapter we have safely opened the takeout, given the ‘pop-up’ a new home operating daily from the park, renovated the 1:1 room with more cafe improvements planned and provided some spectacular new seating for our customers outside.

Support for the project continues to grow and the trustees are delighted to welcome Ed Pearce to the Board at Hardie Park. Ed lives locally, brings a wealth of charity sector experience and a detailed knowledge of fundraising so he'll be a real asset to the already strong trustee team.

Thanks to Rob for starting those litter picks over 10 years ago and having the inspiration, drive, determination and support of all the wonderful volunteers to deliver what seemed like a dream. Here's to the next five years, looking forward to exciting times ahead!

Multi-coloured outdoor seating

Volunteers have been busy building our new benches ready for our takeout customers to enjoy their socially distanced coffee in the park. 5 x 8 seater and 1 x 7 plus wheelchair accessible bench together with umbrellas will be positioned along the pathway opposite the decking. Trustees approved the expenditure to increase seating and add value to the cafe's offer in the summer. The maintenance free benches are made of 100% recycled plastic and are fade resistant. A bright addition for families seeking shade whilst enjoying their ice-creams in the coming months. A great way to celebrate the 5th Anniversary of Hardie Park Cafe.

Click and collect continues...

Great work by volunteer Henry at the bike hub this week. He created a super cycle combining two bikes awaiting refurb.  Just what this project is all about. Re-cycling, re-furbishing, servicing, allowing us to deliver affordable product to the community. Well done Henry.

The Hardie Cycle Hub has been operating a click and collect service for cyclists and families in recent weeks. Make contact via their facebook page or call 07935 868835 to discuss your needs.
