Mercer County District Library News | | All locations will be closed Monday, May 27th in observance of Memorial Day. The Library Staff would like to wish everyone a safe and happy holiday! | | Summer Reading Program It's almost that time again! Our staff has been working extra hard to plan an enjoyable Summer Reading Program. The theme for this years program is A Universe of Stories! | | You can join in on the fun at each location starting on the following dates: Celina: Children & Youth ~ June 3rd Adults ~ June 21st Chickasaw: May 22nd Mendon: June 3rd St.Henry: June 5th | | Summer Library Hours Begin! Celina's summer hours will begin on Tuesday, May 28th. Our hours will be: - Monday: 9:00 am - 6:00 pm - Tuesday: 9:00 am - 6:00 pm - Wednesday: 9:00 am - 8:00 pm - Thursday: 9:00 am - 6:00 pm - Friday: 9:00 am - 6:00 pm - Saturday: 9:00 am - 5:00 pm - Sunday: CLOSED | | Spring Book Sale It is time for our Spring Book Sale! The book sale is this Friday, May 3rd from 9-8 pm and Saturday, May 4th from 9-5 pm. Saturday is dollar a bag day! Reminder, the book sale is hosted at the Book Barn at Marilyn Frahm Memorial Park which is on the North side of the library. | | Fortnite Lock-In Show off your best Fornite dance moves in our dance competition! There will be trivia, pizza, and karaoke. The dance off begins at 8:00 pm on Friday, May 17th and ends at 9:30 pm. Open to grades 5-8. A signed permission form is required. Sign up begins on May 3rd. | | Trivia Night at Brew Nation Gather your friends and family and come join the fun at Trivia Night at Brew Nation. Registration begins at 6 pm with the quizzing beginning promptly at 7 pm on Tuesday, May 27th. Prizes are awarded to the top three teams! This is for adults only. | | Sea Glass Summer Book Launch Michelle Houts will be celebrating her newest book, Sea Glass Summer, with us! On Saturday, May 18, Michelle will be hosting a Q&A session at 11 am, 12 pm, and 1 pm. Copies of this book and all of her books will be available for purchase and signing. | | Other Events Thursday, May 2 at 7 pm: Based on the Book: Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty Friday, May 3 from 9-8 pm: Spring Book Sale Saturday, May 4 from 9-5 pm: Spring Book Sale Saturday, May 18 from 11-2 pm: Sea Glass Summer Book Launch Tuesday, May 21 at 7 pm: Good Reads: Orphan Train by Christina Baker Kline Saturday, May 25 at 10 am & 11 am: Story & Craft time at the Celina Farmer's Market Tuesday, May 27 at 7 pm: Trivia Night at Brew Nation. Monday, June 3: Summer Reading Sign Up begins for children and teens Friday, June 7 at 10:00 am: Summer Reading kickoff party with Mister Pickles Rooster Story Time every Tuesday & Thursday at 10:30 am. Knitting and Crocheting night every Wednesday at 6 pm. | | Marion (Chickasaw) Branch Events | | Fun with Nails! We have two exciting pampering events this May: Muffin & Mani's and Mani's & Pedi's! Cost of each event is $15 per nail set using ColorStreet nails. These are great events for a mother and daughter (any age), friends, sisters, etc. RSVP for either event at kendramseitz@gmail.com or 419-305-2154. Saturday, May 4th - Muffin & Mani's from 9:30-11:30 am. Come and enjoy a morning with getting a manicure done along with beverages and muffins. Wednesday, May 15th - Mani's & Pedi's from 6-7:30 pm. Enjoy an evening with getting a manicure and/or pedicure done. | | Trivia on Tap at Moeller Brew Barn Join your family and friends to test your knowledge at Trivia on Tap on Thursday, May 2nd. Registration begins at 7:30 pm with trivia starting promptly at 8 pm. No fee to enter and prizes will be awarded to the top teams! | | Cleaning Your Vehicle with Essential Oils Get your vehicle ready for summer with chemical free solutions. Make and take window cleaner, interior protectant, carpet and upholstery stain remover and hanging air freshener. Demonstration and discussion begins at 6:30 pm on May, 9th. Wednesday, May 15 from 6-7:30 pm: Mani's & Pedi's Wednesday, May 22: Summer Reading Sign Up begins for all ages Monday, June 3 at 1:30 pm: Summer Reading kickoff party with the Neil Armstrong Air & Space Museum Story Hour is held every Thursday morning at 10:30 am. Lego Nights are held on the 3rd Thursday of each month at 6:30 pm. No registration is required. Parent supervision is advised. Senior Citizens play cards every Thursday at 1:30 pm. Preschool Story time every Thursday from 10:00-10:30 am. | | New Kids Book Club! We are hosting our FIRST monthly book club for students in 2nd-4th grade on Thursday, May 16 from 4-4:30 pm. The book being discussed is A Fine, Fine School by Sharon Creech. Pick up a copy of the book at the library. The Kid's Book Club will always meet at the library on the third Thursday of each month. | | Chats on Stats with James Stachler Join James after school on Thursday, May 9 from 3-4 pm to look at his Baseball Media Guides! He will show you how reading is more than just words...reading includes numbers too!
