Michel Langlois (MD, PhD) specialized in Clinical Chemistry at the University of Ghent, Belgium in 1992-1997, followed by PhD and postdoctoral research in 1997-2001. Since 2002, he continued his professional activities in clinical chemistry in the AZ St. Jan hospital in Bruges, combined with a position of Professor at the University of Ghent since 2009. Dr. Langlois is Past-President of the Royal Belgian Society of Laboratory Medicine (RBSLM) and the Belgian Atherosclerosis Society, the National Representative for the European Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (EFLM), the EFLM Representative for the European Atherosclerosis Society (EAS), and Chair of the EFLM Working Group-Guidelines in 2017-2021. He currently covers the position as Chair of the EFLM Science Committee. His research and educational activities resulted in more than 120 publications in international peer-reviewed journals, 5 scientific awards, and 10 chapters in medical textbooks. Dr. Langlois is Editorial Board member of the journal Clinica Chimica Acta and a scientific reviewer for many other international journals.
