Writing this, I find myself unsure where to start. this year will see us move back to Australia from Canada, not to where we used to live but a whole new start in a whole new place...
so I feel for my art I am on pause, waiting for new inspiration. After all, more canvases painted now just mean more stuff to ship across the ocean!
Writing is more alluring as in THEORY it is a fully portable, do-it-anywhere activity that just needs an outline and time at the keyboard.
BUT, my overwhelming desire for right no is actually fewer goals, less pressure to achieve, less emphasis on output, and more on a quest for the 'spacious life' of this edition's title.
I came across Sarah Susanka many years ago, but I think her Not So Big Life, and Not So Big House and matching world on renovating etc are going to be good guideposts for life before and after the move.
Also, this TedTalk video, How to tame your Advice Monster, because I think I need to get a bit deeper to the root of things and not follow my first thoughts about how I would like to live:
"You know your Advice Monster! Someone starts to talk … and it looms up out of the shadows wanting to “add value”. In this funny and provocative talk, Bungay Stanier explains how advice-giving goes bad; the three personas of your Advice Monster; and why the powerful act of staying curious a little longer is the secret to taming your Advice Monster."
