EXPERIMENTAL FILM - SKIN, Online, Until Saturday 26th June

An exploration of culture, race, bodies and identity through dance, theatre, music and film, performed and produced by a team of multi-disciplinary Malaysian artist. Founder of international award-winning Tsubaki and of Malaysia’s fist design magazine, Cutout Magazine, Jay Lim is passionate about graphic design and teaching. He is invited to many international design events as a speaker and judge, and spoke at TEDx Talk Penang Road 4 years ago. Currently he serves as a visiting professor at Taiwan Kunshan University & Macao University of Science Technology.

TALK - VOICE MEDICINE, Online, Friday 25th June 6pm-7.30pm

Dr David Lau, ENT surgeon at Singapore’s Gleneagles Medical Centre will speak about the medical aspect of voice care and when should vocalists visit the doctor. Lee Yan Qing, Principal Speech Therapist at Changi General Hospital will be speaking about the voice and its care. And Professor Alan Lee Bennett, Professor of Voice and Head of Vocal studies at Yong Siew Toh Conservatory discusses  the role of classical voice teachers and importance of promoting voice health. THEATRE - TALES FROM THE BEDROOM, Online, Friday 25th June 8.30pm

Join actors Karam Tabba, Haseena, Ivan Gabriel and moderator/director Fa Abdul as they read from the scripts of the three most "sizzling" plays from the blockbuster show, "Tales from the Bedroom." This reading session will be followed by an open discourse with the actors and director/playwright.
The scripts chosen are: "Not in the Mood", "Scent & Sensibilities" and "Love at Tinder".

THEATRE/MUSIC - DON’T LET HANTU KNOW, Online, Friday-Sunday 25th-27th June 8.30pm/3pm

Seven short plays/musicals offer a compilation of ghostly tales from a zombie attack to a true life encounter with a spirit. Each spooky show lasts for approximately 10 minutes. There will be music, dance, musicals and plays in English and Mandarin (Mandarin plays with English subtitles).

TALK - ARTIST-IN-RESIDENCE PROGRAMMES, Online, Saturday 26th June 3pm-5pm

A talk by Dr. Su Yaohua, who managed the artists-in-residence programs for Taipei City Government at Taipei Artist Village, Grass Mountain Artist Village and Treasure Hill Artist Village. In addition, Su has experience of directing the corporate art foundation, and establishing one of the pioneering arts in public space program, Very Fun Park, co-funded by the corporate and community entrepreneurs. Currently, Su is the assistant professor of Department of Arts at National Taiwan Normal University and chief curator at the University’s Art Museum.

PJS and the Methodist Girls' School Orchestra take you on a musical journey, featuring tunes like Happy, River Flows in You and many others. Penang Jazz Society's Music Education & Outreach Project 2021 "Rentak-Lah" is an initiative to elevate the standard music performance and literacy in Penang.PJS have adopted the Methodist Girls' School Orchestra into the program for 2021/2022. This program provides instrumental studies, general musicianship, ensemble sessions, virtual concerts & music competitions.

AUDITIONS - “HER STORY” FEMALE WRITING, Online, Sunday 27th June 8.30pm

The organisers of "HER STORY" are looking for 10 new female writers aged 13 and above for a project which will commence in July and end with a performance in November. This project includes online workshops for 2-months (July-August), followed with 2-months of rehearsals (September-October), and finally a performance (November 19-21).
Each candidate must prepare a 2 minutes self-written personal story (something worth sharing) and deliver it herself (no need to memorise). 
Priority will be given to applicants with NO EXPERIENCE.

THE ILHAM ART SHOW 2022 - CALL FOR ENTRIES, Online, Until 2nd July

The ILHAM Art Show is a triennial exhibition platform to give artists the opportunity to experiment and make new work, and to support and promote contemporary art in Malaysia. Those selected to participate in the ILHAM Art Show will be awarded an art production grant (between RM2,000 – RM8,000) to be put towards the making of their new work.

CHILDREN’S THEATRE - ONCE UPON A TIME, Online, Until Wednesday 14th July

The Performing Arts Centre of Penang (penangpac) presents the first installment of a 5 part production of Malaysian Folklore, Legends and Tales series in 2021 called "Once Upon a Time..." In part 1, Badang The Magnificent is a story about a slave who wished for superhuman strength after meeting a mystical creature. Kecik-Kecik Group Show returns for its 2021 edition with over 50 participating artists!

Penang Art District once again collaborates with Hin Bus Depot to bring Malaysian contemporary art to a wider audience by introducing a wide variety of affordable contemporary pieces to grow a strong culture of collecting Malaysian art.

In light of the periodic Movement Control Order, this year, Kecik-Kecik will be conducted online for accessibility while keeping it safe for all artists and collectors.
