VICE CHAIRMAN’S WORD

Dear readers,

The IFC has made a significant contribution to strengthening exchanges between our Associations. Similarly, a better flow of information between us bears fruit. Thus, several members of the DGF, the FFGL or MvC participate in the trips of the Vauban Association Congresses, our friends from the DGF held their annual Congress in Luxembourg with the help of the FFGL and, last year during our General Assembly in Chatham, our members from the FSG discovered with our colleagues the heritage of the Thames while holding their annual meeting.

In addition, these exchanges between members of different associations and countries are always enriching and allow them to discover often innovative uses and solutions. This proves, if it were needed, the importance of the circulation of information and the interest of sharing our practices. Our meeting in Namur during our General Assembly in October with our friends from Simon Stevin will allow us to move forward further and, with our future website, which is currently being renovated, to develop our cooperation.

This Newsletter is yours and your contribution to its enrichment is essential. Feel free to use it to share your experiences with us

Marc Gayda.

UNITED STATES OF AMERICA : COAST DEFENSE STUDY GROUP (CDSG)

The CDSG Publications committee produced excellent quarterly Coast Defense Journal and CDSG Newsletter for our members during this period containing a grand total of 525 pages. Our Editorial Committee is seeking articles for submission to the Journal. Our publisher, Mark Berhow, is the chairman of this committee and main point of contact for the Journal. The Coast Defense Journal includes articles on seacoast fortifications from around the world, so we would like to receive articles on coastal works from members of the various associations that make up the IFC

The CDSG Tour committee conducts special tours on an occasion basis to sites outside the United States. We held a tour to the former coast defenses of Tampa, Florida in May 2024. We are in long-range discussions with the FSG on a tour to Bermuda. We welcome members of IFC organizations to attend.
