At the Bennington City Council meeting this Monday, March 11, we'll discuss a new sidewalk project and cover some items that were postponed from February's even-snowier meeting:
Ridgewood sidewalk extension: This proposed project would connect the Ridgewood subdivision with a new sidewalk along the north side of Bennington Road. Currently, there is no sidewalk, requiring walkers, bikers, and students to share the narrow road with vehicle traffic. The new sidewalk would be safer and improve the city's pedestrian network.
ASIP fees on new developments: We'll have a follow-up discussion on a potential revenue source for road and street projects. The new fees would be assessed on newly constructed homes just outside of Bennington's city limits. I discussed the pros and cons of this idea in a previous meeting update. In other business this Monday night:
- A review of the city's final financial statements from last year.
- Some minor modifications and an update on the planned development southwest of Bennington Road and 168th Street, known as Newport Vista.
- A report on the auction of the old city office.
- An update on the 156th Street project, a major overhaul scheduled for the summer of 2020.
The meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. You can read the full agenda here.
