Happy Thursday , the weekend's almost here!

Not too long ago in an interview on Part Time Fanboy with Kristan Horn I was told my work has a very 'active' quality. There's lots of movement and animated faces, body language etc. I was very flattered but to be honest I felt I was hiding a secret.

I cheat.

That is, lots of times I'll come across something I'll have to draw where I don't have a clue as to what it looks like: the backside of a soldier standing at attention, the arms holding aloft a rifle, a crazy wild gesture of the hands of a girl talking her way out of a traffic ticket. Or...

A gore-smeared kid.

A gore-smeared kid riding shotgun with an older woman trying desperately to get away from the bad guys. He turns to her and shoots a smart-ass line to her.

You can use a phone, but I find it's easier to pose in front of a computer with a camera (they all have it nowadays) and pose-away.

See:

It helps to have an imagination and forget it's me. I'm not going for accuracy, just want to know where all the limbs, muscles and bones go.

As you can see, for the woman I only needed the tightly gripping hands on the steering wheel. Pretty cool, huh?

I have a new YouTube tutorial showing this process in detail. Is it worth checking out? I dunno. All I know is I had fun making it. (Yes, I posed for the girl and the cop above).

Check it out, it's a hoot.

I don't use photo mock ups all the time, but the occasional one does help inform me how the characters behave and interact together.

Remember: December 10 Mayfield Eight 3: 'Faster, Faster' goes live on Kickstarter!

Continuing the saga of our poor Calvin Ryder as he desperately tries to survive the ordeal he's stewed up in. Will he come out the other end in one piece? Back my Kickstarter and be the first to find out!
