Dear USET/USET SPF Family,
The Department of Energy (DOE) has issued a Dear Tribal Leader Letter announcing a Tribal consultation on the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) (P.L. 117-58). This consultation will inform Tribal Nations and Tribal Leaders on DOE programs that received $13 billion in IIJA funding. This consultation is also meant to guide DOE’s implementation of 60 new programs totaling $62.5 billion in funding from IIJA. Specific to Tribal communities, the IIJA funds will support critical infrastructure such as clean and safe drinking water, access to reliable high-speed internet, repair and rebuild roads and bridges, infrastructure resilience to climate change, and cybersecurity efforts. The IIJA also provides nearly $60 billion to upgrade the nation’s power infrastructure to support clean energy transmission. DOE Secretary Jennifer Granholm will provide welcoming remarks and DOE staff will provide an overview of available IIJA funds.
