The days are growing longer, the sun is peeking through the clouds more often, and that familiar itch for open water is back! Winter training nears its end, and the anticipation for hitting the water again is electric. This week, the team's new floating docks (paid for from a grant from SFAB, thank you SFAB!) kissed the water's surface. The rhythmic clanging of oars on shells is soon to follow, as we take to the water for the first time in months.
Soon, the team will be packing our bags and heading to our annual Spring Break training camp in Ten Mile, Tennessee. John Knox Camp awaits with its promise of two-a-day training sessions, delicious camp food, cozy nights around crackling bonfires, and maybe even some friendly (or not-so-friendly) competition. This camp is more than just grueling workouts and technique development, it's about team bonding, forging new friendships, and building the mental and physical resilience needed to conquer the season ahead.
Speaking of races, the calendar is filling up soon! Our top varsity will be pushing their limits at the San Diego Crew Classic, while two of our talented juniors chase their Olympic dreams at the Trials. The rest of the team will be ready to shine at SIRAs, showcasing the culmination of their winter training and spring camp preparation. So, stay tuned, Boilermaker Rowing family! We're excited to share our journey with you as we transition from land to water, from training to competition, and ultimately, from victory to victory. Go Purdue Crew!
