Melville Residents' Association

Dear Melville Community,

As more and more club-like businesses move into Melville, if you would like to have your voice heard about the effect of unhampered liquor licensed premises causing a noise nuisance, an affidavit that outlines your challenges is the most effective means to be heard.

A template affidavit can be found here. Please fill out one affidavit for each business that causes a significant disruption to your life and peace. Please use the general template and change the business name as necessary. There are three steps that need to be completed.

1) Please download this template and fill it out with details that are relevant to you. If there are multiple adult members of a household, each adult must fill out their own affidavit as it pertains to them.

2) An affidavit needs to be certified by a commissioner of oaths to be valid. A local commissioner of oaths has graciously volunteered their time to sit at the Melville Farmer's Market (Carlow Road, near tennis courts) from 09h00-10h30 on Saturday, 20 November 2021. Alternatively, the Parkview police station has a commissioner of oaths on staff.

    3) Please drop off your signed and certified affidavit at Melville Postnet on Main Road or contact Muffy Gilmore (083 290 1219) who has offered to collect your certified affidavit from your residence. These will then be delivered to the City of Joburg at the end of next week.

Thank you for your efforts to keep our suburb safe and enjoyable for everyone.
