The Four Lakes Task Force Operations Assessment is an annual transitional assessment for three years to property owners in the Four Lakes Special Assessment District towards general operations and administration. The proposed assessment will tentatively begin in December of 2021 and last until the end of 2023. It must be reviewed by the property owners and approved by the counties this year.
To date, property owners have not been assessed toward recovery and restoration efforts. Thanks to state grants and federal matches and the generosity of many private funders, we had over $40 million by the end of 2020.
This year we are working on establishing the construction costs for the four dams that we will need to finance. We expect new estimates by the May 25th joint county meeting.
Once we understand the total costs, we will pursue other funding sources. It will likely take special state congressional legislation or appropriations to reduce the assessment amount.
Join us from 5:00-6:00 p.m. for the first quarterly board meeting of Four Lakes Task Force, with the purpose to conduct board business. There will be a public comment period at the end, where those who wish to comment will have an opportunity to do so.
Immediately after the board meeting at 6:00 p.m., there will be a Special Assessment District Informational Session which also will include a public comment period.
The registration link is the same for the board meeting and the SAD Informational Session.
